Scott Cycles’ latest creation, the Avanti Giro F2, targets urban commuters, promising a seamless ride experience.

In the bustling realm of urban commuting, the Avanti Giro F2 emerged as a dazzling contender, finding its place of honour in my garage. From the moment it graced our home, it became an instant favourite, capturing the awe of everyone in my family with its extraordinary lightness. Avanti’s claim that this bike isn’t just a racing machine but a symbol of urban mobility resonates perfectly—a vehicle designed to effortlessly whisk you from one destination to another, making every journey seamless.

Frame
Crafted from a lightweight alloy, the Giro F2’s frame left a lasting impression with its immaculate welding and impressive durability. Its medium-sized frame graciously accommodated riders of varying heights, ensuring a comfortable riding experience for me and my family members, ranging from 5.5 ft to 6.2 ft. Weighing just under 10 kg, the formtech alloy frame made long rides a breeze. While the oversized handlebar offered a commanding posture, riders with smaller hands might find the grips a bit wide, potentially causing discomfort while handling the brake lever.

Gears and Brakes
The Giro F2 came equipped with a Shimano EF505 21-gear set, providing smooth gear shifts that allowed me to focus solely on the road ahead. However, the disc brakes, although functional, lacked the desired stopping power and tended to slip slightly during intense braking moments. Additionally, the brakes required readjustment after removing and reattaching the front tire, proving to be a minor inconvenience for avid travellers.

Ride and Handling
The oversized handlebar contributed to the cycle’s superior handling, yet its rigid, unsprung nature made it somewhat challenging on bumpy city roads, especially when navigating speed bumps. Despite its lightweight, the seat lacked a bit of cushioning for added comfort. The 700 x 35c road bike spec alloy wheels, paired with stainless steel spokes, showcased remarkable durability, with the bike enduring rough usage remarkably well. While the wide handlebar facilitated excellent handling on smooth stretches, it demanded extra attention on uneven terrains. Surprisingly, the bike excelled in straight lines, even outpacing electric kick-scooters in thrilling drag races.

Verdict
The Avanti Giro F2 stands out as a top-notch commuter bike, excelling in bustling urban environments. Tailored for city escapades, it’s not engineered for off-road adventures or the spirited riding style favoured by road bike enthusiasts. Its exceptional feature—the lightweight frame—propels its commuting prowess. Priced at ₹42,900, it faces stiff competition from rivals offering similar features at a lower cost. However, for those seeking a reliable and high-performing companion for their daily journeys, the Giro F2 proves to be an irresistible choice, promising a dependable and delightful commute at every turn.
