Kia India has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative named K-Charge, designed to alleviate concerns surrounding EV range anxiety. This innovative move sees Kia collaborating with five Charge Point Operators (CPOs) — Statiq, Charge Zone, Relux Electric, Lion Charge, and E-Fill chargers — to establish a network of over 1000 electric vehicle charging stations across India.
In an industry-first approach, Kia is extending access to this vast charging infrastructure to Kia customers and non-Kia users. This strategic decision aims to support the broader electric vehicle community in India and reflects Kia’s dedication to enhancing customer services through user-friendly solutions.
The K-Charge services are seamlessly integrated into the ‘MyKia’ app, consolidating various functions into one accessible smartphone application. This integration provides users with a comprehensive platform to discover and utilise the extensive charging network, furthering Kia’s commitment to making sustainable mobility convenient and accessible to everyone.
Kia’s collaboration with Statiq, ChargeZone, Relux Electric, Lion Charge, and E-Fill charging operators is complemented by a special partnership with Relux Electric. As part of this collaboration, Kia customers will enjoy three months of complimentary charging services through Relux Charging stations.
The K-Charge features extend beyond conventional charging services, offering added convenience to EV users through advanced technology integration. Users can access an interactive map provided by Map My India, a Made-in-India map service provider, to locate charging stations based on preferences. The app allows users to check the availability of charging slots, make payments seamlessly through the integrated wallet service, and eliminate the need for multiple external applications.
NumoCity Technologies, a leader in CMS services, facilitated the integration of the charging point operators into the ‘MyKia’ app, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience for electric vehicle owners.
Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, National Head of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, emphasised the significance of K-Charge, stating, “K-Charge is not just a convenience initiative for our customers but a step towards making sustainable mobility convenient and accessible for everyone. We are confident that seamless, user-friendly solutions like these will play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India.”
Aligned with its vision of ‘EV for All,’ Kia aims to achieve an annual sales target of one million EVs by 2026, further expanding to 1.6 million units annually by 2030. This ambitious goal is supported by the launch of various long-range Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and the introduction of locally manufactured EVs in the RV body style in India by 2030. Kia remains committed to expanding the charging network by onboarding new CPOs in the future, paving the way for a smooth transition to a complete EV future.
