In recent months, I found myself grappling with the challenges of navigating peak traffic during my little brother’s wedding festivities. My only wish, aside from a joyous celebration, was for a car to ease the commute through the bustling streets of the city. Fortunately, my prayers were answered with the arrival of the MG Comet EV, the latest addition to our long-term fleet. Over the past month, I’ve had the opportunity to put this charming electric vehicle through its paces, exploring its capabilities and quirks in real-world scenarios. From bustling city streets to longer journeys, here’s my comprehensive take on the MG Comet EV after a month of extensive use.

Attention-Grabbing Design
From the moment it graced our garage, the MG Comet EV demanded attention unlike any other car. Its compact size and distinctive design features turned heads and initiated conversations wherever it ventured. The Comet EV’s unique proportions and striking aesthetics made it a standout on the road, earning admiration from pedestrians and fellow motorists alike.

Surprising Spaciousness
Despite its small footprint, the MG Comet EV offers surprising interior space and versatility. During family outings and shopping trips, we comfortably accommodated four passengers and their belongings, highlighting the vehicle’s practicality for daily use. While ingress and egress posed challenges for some older relatives and grandparents, once inside, they appreciated the comfortable ride and airy cabin environment.

Efficient Performance
Charging the MG Comet EV is a straightforward process, albeit one that demands patience due to its limited charging capacity. Using a 3.3kW charger, replenishing the 17.3kWh battery took time, but the vehicle’s efficiency ensured an impressive range for urban commutes. With conscientious driving habits and eco-friendly settings, I consistently achieved between 180-195 km of range, alleviating concerns about range anxiety during daily use.

City-Friendly Maneuverability
The MG Comet EV excels in navigating congested city streets. Its compact size allows for effortless manoeuvring, enabling seamless navigation through traffic and effortless parking in tight spaces. The responsive steering enhances the driving experience, providing a sense of agility and control crucial for urban environments.

Interior Comfort and Connectivity
Inside the cabin, the MG Comet EV offers a pleasant and minimalist environment characterised by light colours and modern design elements. While the interior impresses with its aesthetics, the audio system falls short in terms of clarity and bass performance. Additionally, occasional glitches with the touchscreen interface underscore areas where improvements could enhance the overall driving experience.
