Kia India has taken a significant step in its electric mobility journey with the launch of its first made-in-India electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis EV, priced from ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Designed and built in India, the all-electric RV (Recreational Vehicle) blends practicality, performance, and affordability aimed at an India that “moves together.”
The Carens Clavis EV comes in four variants — HTK Plus, HTX, ER HTX, and ER HTX Plus with two battery options: a 42 kWh pack delivering an ARAI-certified range of 404 km, and a larger 51.4 kWh pack offering 490 km on a full charge. Kia claims the EV can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.

Performance Built for Indian Roads :- The Carens Clavis EV is powered by two motor options 99 kW and 126 kW producing up to 255 Nm of torque, ensuring quick acceleration even with a full load of seven passengers. The battery pack is IP67-certified, liquid-cooled, and has undergone rigorous testing including water-soak, drop, and vibration trials to suit India’s diverse weather and road conditions.
A highlight feature is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing owners to power external devices turning the EV into a mobile energy source.
Smart Cabin and Connected Features :- Inside, the Clavis EV offers a tech-laden, family-friendly cabin with a 67.62 cm (26.62”) dual panoramic display, Bose premium sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, and dual-pane sunroof. Comfort features include ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, smart air purifier with AQI display, and a floating center console.
The EV also supports 90 connected features, accessible via the MyKia app, including charge scheduling, range alerts, real-time energy consumption, and V2L control settings.
Safety and Technology :- Safety remains a core focus with ADAS Level 2 capabilities offering 20 autonomous functions such as Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Front Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. In addition, Kia provides an 18-feature “Hi-Safety” package, which includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and rear occupant alert.
Charging Network and Ownership Experience :- To build confidence in EV ownership, Kia has developed an extensive support ecosystem. Through its K-Charge platform, users can access over 11,000 public charging points across India, along with live charger availability, route planning, and integrated payment options. The company also operates 250 EV-ready workshops and 100+ dealerships equipped with fast chargers.
Owners can opt for the “My Convenience e-Plus” program that bundles maintenance, extended warranty, and roadside assistance, ensuring peace of mind throughout ownership.
Design and Variants :- The Carens Clavis EV sports Kia’s signature “Opposites United” design philosophy, featuring a Digital Tiger Face, Star Map LED DRLs, crystal-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, and a new Matte Ivory Silver color option. The model’s 200mm ground clearance and futuristic styling lend it both presence and practicality.
