Koenigsegg has unveiled the new CCGT1, a road-legal Megacar inspired by the legendary CCGT GT1 endurance racing project.

Revealed in Monterey, California, the CCGT1 brings the spirit of Koenigsegg’s unrealised racing program into a limited-production road and track machine.

FROM GT1 RACING DREAM TO ROAD-LEGAL MEGACAR

The original CCGT was developed as Koenigsegg’s endurance racing contender and was engineered to weigh around 1,000 kg, well below the GT1 class limit. It featured a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 targeting 608.32 Bhp, rear-wheel drive, a magnesium sequential gearbox and an aerodynamic package capable of generating more than 600 kg of downforce.

However, changes to FIA GT1 regulations just two months after testing began effectively ended the program before the CCGT could compete. Only one example was built, and the car has since been refurbished by Koenigsegg’s Legend Division for competition in the GT1 Historic class.

CCGT1 BRINGS THE RACING SPIRIT TO THE ROAD

Based on the CC850, the CCGT1 carries the name and character of the original CCGT while being fully homologated and road legal. Koenigsegg says the car has been developed with two distinct identities: a comfortable and capable road-going Megacar and a highly focused machine designed to deliver an intense circuit experience.

The CCGT1 uses Koenigsegg’s twin-turbo V8, with additional cooling designed to support sustained performance on track. Its GT1-inspired setup includes a clutch pedal for takeoff and a sequential shifter connected to the company’s nine-speed Light Speed Transmission.

TRACK-FOCUSED TECHNOLOGY AND DRIVING MODES

The centre console features an ASMR dial offering Auto, Sequential, Manual and Reverse modes. Buyers seeking a more traditional manual experience can also specify the CC850’s six-speed gated shifter as an option.

Koenigsegg has also introduced its newly developed Ghost Fibre technology with the CCGT1, creating another link to the company’s earlier Trevita project.

ONLY 70 CCGT1 CARS WILL BE BUILT

The Koenigsegg CCGT1 will be limited to just 70 vehicles, matching the production number of the CC850 on which it is based. According to Koenigsegg, all 70 cars had already been allocated before the official launch.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE CCGT LEGACY

The CCGT1 gives Koenigsegg’s abandoned GT1 racing legacy a new identity, combining the heritage of the original CCGT with modern road-legal engineering. With its limited production, twin-turbo V8 and dedicated track-oriented hardware, the CCGT1 represents one of the most focused interpretations of Koenigsegg’s road-car philosophy.

THE CCGT NAME RETURNS

The Koenigsegg CCGT1 effectively closes a chapter that began with the unfinished CCGT GT1 program two decades ago. By combining a road-legal Megacar with genuine track-focused engineering, Koenigsegg has transformed the spirit of its lost endurance racer into an exclusive modern machine. With all 70 examples already allocated, the CCGT1 is set to become another highly significant chapter in the company’s limited-production history.
