Kia has officially introduced the Sorento in India, with introductory prices starting at ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium three-row SUV is offered in 6- and 7-seat configurations, along with diesel and strong-hybrid powertrain options.

Kia has expanded its premium SUV portfolio in India with the introduction of the Sorento, showcased at the company’s Kia Inspiration Day event. Positioned as a flagship SUV, the Sorento combines a bold exterior design, spacious three-row seating, advanced technology and multiple powertrain options. Kia’s official India website now lists the Sorento among its vehicle lineup. 

The Kia Sorento price in India starts at ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Smartstream D2.2 diesel-powered HTE 7-seater. The range extends up to ₹40.39 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec HTX(A) Black Line AWD 6-seater strong-hybrid variant, based on the pricing revealed at the event.

Kia Sorento: Engine and Powertrain Options

The India-spec Sorento gets two major powertrain choices. The first is a 2.2-litre Smartstream diesel engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (8DCT). The second is a 1.6-litre T-GDi strong-hybrid powertrain.

The hybrid system combines a 1.6-litre turbo-GDi petrol engine producing 180 PS and 265 Nm with an electric motor producing 65 PS and 264 Nm. Higher variants of the Sorento are available with all-wheel drive (AWD), making the SUV suitable for both highway touring and varied driving conditions.

6- and 7-Seater Options

Kia is offering the Sorento in 6- and 7-seat layouts. The 6-seat version features a more premium captain-seat arrangement, while the 7-seater focuses on maximum passenger practicality.

The SUV also gets a premium equipment package, including ADAS, advanced infotainment, panoramic sunroof, connected-car technology, premium seating features, 360-degree camera and multiple convenience features, depending on the variant.

With its combination of three-row practicality, hybrid technology, AWD capability and premium positioning, the Kia Sorento enters an increasingly competitive Indian SUV market.
