Tata Motors expands its South African portfolio with the Osprey, while introducing the new TATA.CARS global brand identity.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPVL) has launched the all-new Tata Osprey in South Africa, with prices starting at R249,900. Known internationally as the Tata Nexon, the Osprey becomes the latest addition to Tata Motors’ expanding South African portfolio and is being introduced in partnership with Motus Holdings.

The launch, announced in Johannesburg on September 4, 2026, also marks the South African debut of Tata Motors’ new customer-facing global brand identity, TATA.CARS, built around the brand promise “Nothing’s Too Far.” The new identity is intended to bring Tata’s passenger vehicle portfolio under a unified, future-focused global brand.
Tata Osprey: Design, Features and Safety
The Tata Osprey brings a feature-rich package to the South African SUV segment. Exterior highlights include a panoramic sunroof, Bi-LED headlamps, LED DRLs, X-Graphic full LED taillights and 16-inch alloy wheels. The SUV also gets a bold stance designed to appeal to customers seeking a combination of style and everyday practicality.

Inside, the Osprey features automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, a 26.03 cm digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, passive-entry push-button start, cruise control and USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports.
Safety remains a major focus. The Osprey is equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), front parking sensors, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a 360° HD surround-view system with Blind View Monitor. Tata Motors also highlights the Nexon’s five-star Global NCAP safety legacy in India.
