Tata Motors has officially launched the new Aeris compact sedan in India, with prices starting at ₹5.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as the successor to the Tata Tigor, the Aeris brings a substantially refreshed exterior design, a more modern cabin and additional features while retaining Tata’s familiar 1.2-litre petrol and CNG powertrains.

Customers can choose between petrol and CNG configurations, with both manual and AMT gearbox options available depending on the variant. Tata has already opened bookings, while deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11, 2026.

Tata Aeris Design: Sharper and More Modern

The biggest transformation comes in the design department. The Aeris adopts a sharper appearance inspired by Tata’s latest compact cars, including the Tiago. It features slimmer LED headlamps, eyebrow-style LED DRLs, a gloss-black grille and redesigned bumpers.

The front bumper also incorporates pixel-inspired LED fog lamps and black detailing. In profile, the sedan retains the familiar notchback-style silhouette but receives redesigned alloy wheels and updated exterior detailing.

At the rear, the Aeris gets slimmer LED tail-lamps connected by a red trim, along with a redesigned bumper and a high-mounted stop lamp.

Tata offers the sedan in six exterior colours: Nitro Crimson, Pure Grey, Dandeli Drizzle, Pristine White, Daytona Grey and Dune Glow.

Feature-Rich Interior With 10.25-Inch Screen

Inside, the Aeris borrows much of its design philosophy from the updated Tiago. The cabin gets a more contemporary dashboard layout with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a semi-digital driver display.

Feature highlights include wireless smartphone charging, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery and a dashcam recording function that uses the car’s surround-view camera system.

For safety, Tata offers six airbags as standard, along with a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, TPMS, hill-hold control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.

Petrol and CNG Powertrain Options

The Tata Aeris continues with the familiar 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. In petrol specification, it produces 86 bhp and 113Nm, while the CNG version develops 76 bhp and 97Nm.

Both powertrains can be paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT, giving buyers the choice between conventional manual driving and automated convenience.

One notable aspect of the CNG version is Tata’s dual-cylinder CNG configuration. This packaging approach helps preserve usable luggage space. The petrol Aeris offers a 419-litre boot, while the CNG version is expected to provide around 227 litres.

Dimensions and Practicality

The Aeris measures 3,995mm in length, 1,684mm in width and 1,532mm in height, with a 2,450mm wheelbase and 170mm ground clearance. Its compact dimensions keep it within India’s sub-four-metre sedan category while maintaining a reasonably spacious cabin and practical boot.

Tata Aeris Rivals

The new Tata Aeris enters a competitive compact sedan market. Its key rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.

With a lower starting price, multiple powertrain choices and a significant equipment upgrade over the outgoing Tigor, the Aeris marks Tata Motors’ renewed focus on the compact sedan segment.
