BMW has expanded its all-electric Neue Klasse SUV line-up with the new BMW iX3 M60 xDrive, positioned as the most powerful version of the electric SUV yet. The M Performance model combines a dual-motor electric powertrain with BMW M-specific chassis technology, a sportier exterior and an extensively upgraded cabin.

The new BMW iX3 M60 xDrive produces a maximum 450 kW, equivalent to around 612 bhp, and develops a peak torque output of 875 Nm. BMW says the electric SUV can accelerate from 0–100 kmph in a claimed 3.9 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 240 kmph. All performance figures are provisional at this stage.

BMW iX3 M60 xDRIVE: POWER AND PERFORMANCE

The iX3 M60 xDrive uses one electric motor on each axle, providing all-wheel drive. At the rear is a new Gen6 electrically excited synchronous motor, supported by a more powerful inverter and revised hardware designed to deliver higher peak and continuous output.

Power is managed through BMW’s Heart of Joy high-performance computer and BMW M Dynamic Performance Control. According to BMW, the system processes driving-related functions including the drive system, braking, steering, charging and energy recuperation at a significantly faster rate than previous systems.

The SUV also features M-specific driving modes, including M Sport and M Sport Plus, allowing the driver to alter the responses of the drive system, chassis and steering.

754km Range and 400kW Charging

Despite its performance-focused positioning, the BMW iX3 M60 xDrive also promises substantial electric range. Its 108.7kWh usable battery is claimed to deliver up to 754km of WLTP range, although BMW notes that these are provisional figures.

The SUV supports DC charging at up to 400kW. BMW claims that, when connected to an 800V DC fast-charging station, the iX3 M60 xDrive can add up to 340km of range in 10 minutes under the specified test conditions. It also gets AC Charging Professional with charging speeds of up to 22kW.

M Performance Design

Visually, the iX3 M60 xDrive gets a more aggressive interpretation of BMW’s Neue Klasse design language. One of its key identifying features is the new M Yellow Lights, inspired by BMW’s motorsport models.

The SUV comes equipped with M Sport exterior elements and the BMW Iconic Glow exterior package. It also gets aerodynamic M mirror caps, muscular wheel arches, black high-gloss roof rails and an M-specific roof-edge spoiler with two aero blades.

Standard equipment includes 21-inch M light-alloy wheels, while customers can opt for wheels measuring up to 22 inches.

Sportier Neue Klasse Cabin

Inside, the iX3 M60 xDrive continues BMW’s new-generation cabin philosophy. The SUV features the BMW Panoramic iDrive, BMW Operating System X and a 17.9-inch central display angled towards the driver.

The standard equipment list includes M Sport seats with 10-way electric adjustment, lumbar support, backrest-width adjustment, thigh support and massage functionality. Illuminated M logos are integrated into the head restraints.

The SUV also gets a 13-speaker, 430-watt Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos support. Optional BMW Digital Premium services add access to M-specific in-car applications, including an M Cockpit app and M Drag Meter.

M Chassis and Driver Assistance

BMW has equipped the iX3 M60 xDrive with adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering and an electronically controlled M Sport differential as standard. The chassis also receives bespoke tuning for the springs and dampers, revised anti-roll bar links and additional bracing to improve stiffness and steering precision.

The electric SUV also comes with SAE Level 2 driver assistance systems and BMW Symbiotic Drive. Its Motorway Assistant enables hands-free driving on motorways at speeds of up to 130 kmph, subject to applicable conditions and regulations.
