Some cars win you over with horsepower.
Some do it with features.
The Tata Curvv Petrol MT, though, managed something subtler — it grew on me.

Five days. That’s all it took.
What began as a straightforward assignment soon felt personal — the kind of connection that sneaks up on you when you’re not busy overthinking spec sheets.

My week with the Curvv included everything from quick coffee runs to a Mumbai airport trip to a dusty mountain road for a shoot. And somewhere in between, the Curvv stopped being “the test car” and became “the car I’d miss returning.”

Design: A Concept Car That Somehow Made It to the Real World

Sharp lines, coupe stance and a bold LED signature
The Curvv never once blended into the background.

The Curvv doesn’t just stand out — it commands attention.
The LED light bar, the flush door handles, the swooping coupe roofline, and that unmistakable Gold Essence finish all combine into something that feels more premium than its segment.

This petrol ICE version has its own identity:

  • A functional open grille
  • Low-set headlamps tucked in the bumper
  • Sporty skid plates
  • And the rear — a ducktail lip with a continuous LED strip

Rear visibility suffers a bit, and yes, there’s no rear wiper due to the steep glass. But if design is theatre, the Curvv is front-row entertainment.

Interior: Mature, Modern and Surprisingly Upmarket

A cabin that feels a class above
Burgundy leatherette, layered textures and crisp displays.

Step inside and you’ll feel it immediately — Tata’s interior game has matured beautifully

Highlights inside include:

  • Burgundy leatherette upholstery
  • 10.25-inch digital cluster
  • 10.25-inch infotainment with wireless Android Auto / CarPlay
  • Ambient lighting
  • Sleek layered dashboard

There are quirks, too:

The front cupholder is strangely placed inside the glovebox, the USB ports hide too deep, and the armrest could be longer. But overall, the cabin feels thoughtful, premium, and inviting.

Performance: A Balanced, Boosted Everyday Companion

Under the hood sits a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, making 123.29 bhp and 225 Nm paired with a 6-speed manual.
Not headline numbers — but in real use, the engine impresses.

  • Wakes up after 2,000 rpm
  • Sport Mode sharpens the throttle beautifully
  • Overtakes are easy
  • Normal Mode keeps things predictable
  • Eco Mode… well, it exists

The gearbox is smooth though the throws are long, and the clutch has a springy feel. Still, the mechanical engagement of shifting through busy traffic or open roads keeps the experience involving.

Fuel efficiency? Surprisingly solid for mixed driving.

Space & Practicality: More Accommodating Than Expected

500 litres of honest utility
Luggage, stroller, camera bags, all swallowed with ease.

At 6’2”, I rarely find compact SUVs comfortable. The Curvv surprised me.

The driving position feels natural, and there’s good rear legroom despite the coupe roofline .

The 500-litre boot handled a full weekend haul, plus the powered tailgate is a luxury touch that spoils you quickly.

Ride & Handling: Firm in the City, Confident on Highways

Composed on straights, confident in corners
and never afraid of bad roads.

The Curvv feels grown-up on the move:

  • Low-speed ride is firm
  • High-speed stability is excellent
  • 208mm ground clearance sails over rough patches
  • Steering gains weight in Sport Mode

Body roll is controlled, braking is progressive, and the 18-inch alloys give character and grip.

Features: Loaded With Tech (Some Rough Edges Remain)

Standout features include:

  • Ventilated seats
  • Wireless charging
  • 360-degree camera
  • JBL speakers
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Blind spot view monitor
  • iRA connected car tech

But:

  • Some plastic areas flex more than expected
  • HVAC touch panel is fingerprint-prone
  • Lane-keep assist feels inconsistent

Verdict: The Curvv Isn’t Perfect — But It’s Easy to Fall For

A concept-car silhouette blended with real-world confidence
The Curvv leaves an impression that lasts.

The Tata Curvv Petrol MT is for someone who wants:

  • A bold design
  • A mature, premium cabin
  • Daily usability
  • A fun turbo engine
  • Something different from every other SUV in traffic

It sits between the Nexon and Harrier — not trying to outdo either, but carving its own identity.

And after five days with it, I can confidently say:
It’s more than a curveball — it’s a genuinely likeable machine.
