India Bike Week 2024 in Goa wasn’t just about soundtracks and stunt shows it became the stage for KTM’s next big move. The Austrian brand officially showcased the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S and the all-new 390 Enduro R, two motorcycles that aim to redefine what lightweight adventure bikes can offer Indian riders.

Both models made their global debut at EICMA 2024 in Milan, but seeing them up close in Goa made one thing clear: KTM isn’t playing it safe. With bookings opening across India, these bikes are positioned to go straight after the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the growing adventure segment.

BUILT TO FLY: KTM’S NEW 390 ADVENTURE DNA

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S shows its off-road intent, combining long-travel suspension with rally-inspired design.

DESIGN & POSITIONING

At first glance, the 390 Adventure S looks far more purposeful than the outgoing model. The sharp bodywork, tall stance, and rally-style front end bring it visually closer to KTM’s bigger adventure machines. The mixed colour scheme of orange, blue, and white gives it a proper factory-racer feel, while the redesigned fairing and windscreen hint at improved wind protection for highway runs.

This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh. KTM has clearly worked on making the 390 Adventure S feel more “ready to roam” whether that’s broken mountain roads, forest trails, or long weekend touring.

THE ADVENTURE S IN ITS ELEMENT

With a 21-inch front wheel and wire-spoke setup, the 390 Adventure S is designed to handle real-world adventure riding.

CHASSIS, WHEELS & FEATURES

Built around a trellis frame, the 2025 390 Adventure S features adjustable USD front forks and a rear monoshock, paired with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels wrapped in Apollo Tramplr tyres. This setup underlines its dual-purpose nature stability on highways and confidence on dirt.

Feature-wise, KTM hasn’t held back. The Adventure S gets all-LED lighting, a colour TFT display, cruise control, and dual-channel ABS, putting it among the most tech-loaded bikes in its class.

ENDURO ATTITUDE, MINIMALIST SOUL

The new KTM 390 Enduro R focuses on raw riding feel, with a stripped-back approach and trail-friendly ergonomics.

390 ENDURO R EXPLAINED

Sitting beside the Adventure S is the 390 Enduro R, a motorcycle that takes a very different approach. It skips many of the premium electronics and focuses instead on rider connection, simplicity, and control. With changes to seat height, seat profile, and handlebar position, the Enduro R is clearly aimed at those who prefer technical trails and lighter touring over long-distance comfort.

It retains the same suspension and wheel sizes as the Adventure S but uses a simpler LCD instrument cluster and switchable ABS, keeping the experience more mechanical and dirt-focused.

ENGINE & PERFORMANCE

Powering both motorcycles is KTM’s latest 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, borrowed from the new-generation Duke 390. Producing around 45.3 bhp and 39 Nm, this motor is already known for its punchy character and refined nature.

While the Adventure S is expected to use a touring-friendly tune, KTM may retune the Enduro R to better suit off-road riding. Final specifications will be revealed closer to the official launch, expected in January 2025.

MARKET IMPACT & VERDICT

With the new 390 Adventure S and Enduro R, KTM isn’t just updating a model line it’s splitting its lightweight adventure platform into two clear personalities. One for riders who want comfort, technology, and long-distance capability. The other for those who value simplicity, agility, and dirt-first riding.

As bookings open across India, one thing is certain: the entry-level adventure category is about to get far more exciting.
