Lexus has officially entered the electric vehicle space in India with the launch of the all-new ES 500e, priced at ₹89.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the brand’s first all electric offering in the country and introduces a new chapter for the ES sedan, combining luxury, performance, and sustainability in a single package.

The eighth generation Lexus ES is built on the TNGA-K platform and will also continue to be available in a petrol-hybrid variant (350h), with pricing expected to be announced later. However, the spotlight firmly remains on the all electric 500e, which positions itself as a unique offering in the premium midsize luxury sedan segment.

ALL-ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE WITH IMPRESSIVE RANGE

The Lexus ES 500e is powered by a 74.68kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors, delivering all wheel drive capability. The system produces a combined output of 343hp and 438Nm of torque, enabling the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds.

Lexus claims a driving range of up to 580km on a single charge, making it highly practical for both city and long distance travel. Charging is also convenient, with support for an 11kW AC home charger and fast charging capability that allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes using a 150kW DC charger.

The new ES adopts Lexus’ “Provocative Simplicity” design philosophy, resulting in a bold yet refined exterior. The front features a clean, grille less design with signature twin L-shaped LED lighting, while the sleek coupe like roofline adds a sporty touch.

From the side, the sedan showcases sharp character lines and a distinctive Z-shaped design element, while the rear is highlighted by connected LED tail lamps and a clean, futuristic finish. Larger dimensions and 21-inch aero optimised wheels further enhance its road presence.

Inside, the ES 500e introduces a “Clean Tech x Elegance” interior concept, focusing on minimalism, space, and technology. The cabin features a large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 13.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with premium materials and refined finishes.

Features include a panoramic glass roof, multi zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless connectivity, and a Mark Levinson sound system. The interior also benefits from improved NVH insulation, ensuring a quieter and more comfortable driving experience.

Lexus has equipped the ES 500e with an extensive suite of safety and driver assistance features. These include adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, and multiple airbags, along with advanced parking and stability systems.
