In a significant move to strengthen India’s electric vehicle ecosystem, Ultraviolette Automotive has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to expand its manufacturing capabilities with Production Linked Incentive (PLI) support.
Announced at the ‘Invest Karnataka’ Conclave in Bengaluru, the agreement highlights Karnataka’s commitment to fostering clean mobility investments through proactive policy frameworks and incentive-driven growth. The MoU was formalized in the presence of M. B. Patil, underscoring the state’s focus on becoming a hub for advanced EV manufacturing.
Ultraviolette’s ambitious five-year investment plan includes a phased approach. In Phase 1, the company will expand its existing manufacturing capacity with an investment of ₹200 crore. Phase 2 will involve establishing a new production facility in Karnataka, designed to produce up to 150,000 units annually. This expansion is expected to generate employment opportunities, strengthen local supply chains, and accelerate innovation within the EV sector.
Speaking on the development, CEO and Co-founder Narayan Subramaniam emphasized Karnataka’s critical role in the company’s growth journey, citing its strong infrastructure, policy support, and engineering talent. CTO and Co-founder Niraj Rajmohan added that the state has been instrumental in Ultraviolette’s R&D success, enabling the creation of world-class EV technologies.
Headquartered in Bengaluru, Ultraviolette is known for its performance-oriented electric motorcycles like the F77 and X-47 Crossover. The company has already established over 40 experience centres across India and plans to expand to 100 cities by the end of 2026.
Globally, Ultraviolette is making strides as well, with a presence in 12 European countries, becoming the first Indian electric two-wheeler brand to enter the European market. With plans to expand further into Asia and Latin America, the company is positioning itself as a key global player in the EV industry.
This strategic partnership not only strengthens Ultraviolette’s manufacturing footprint but also reinforces Karnataka’s position as a leading destination for high-value, sustainable mobility investments.
