Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has officially launched the new Tata Altroz iCNG AMT in India, with prices starting at ₹8.69 lakh (ex-showroom). With this launch, the Altroz becomes the first and only premium hatchback in the Indian market to offer an automatic transmission paired with a CNG powertrain.

The introduction of the AMT gearbox expands the Altroz lineup further and strengthens Tata Motors’ multi-powertrain strategy, which already includes petrol, diesel, and CNG options. The company aims to provide a more convenient and fuel-efficient driving experience for urban buyers looking for lower running costs without compromising on comfort and premium features.

The Altroz iCNG AMT is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron iCNG engine that produces 73.5 PS of power and 103 Nm of torque in CNG mode. Tata Motors has paired the engine with an automated manual transmission (AMT) for smoother city driving and better convenience in traffic conditions.

One of the biggest highlights of the Altroz iCNG AMT is Tata’s innovative twin-cylinder CNG technology. Unlike traditional CNG vehicles that sacrifice boot space, the Altroz uses two smaller cylinders placed beneath the luggage area, offering a practical 210-litre boot space even in CNG mode.

On the design front, the hatchback continues with its premium styling elements, including flush door handles, infinity LED tail lamps, LED headlamps with DRLs, and stylish alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the Altroz offers dual 26.03 cm digital screens, ambient lighting, a soft-touch dashboard, and lounge-style rear seats for enhanced comfort.

Safety remains one of the strongest highlights of the Altroz range. Built on Tata’s ALFA architecture, the Altroz carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and comes equipped with six airbags, ESP, ISOFIX mounts, reverse parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a 360-degree HD camera.
