Force Motors has achieved a significant milestone in its long-standing partnership with Mercedes-Benz by rolling out the 200,000th Mercedes-Benz engine from its advanced manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The achievement highlights nearly three decades of collaboration between the two automotive giants and reinforces India’s growing role in global automotive manufacturing.
The landmark engine, a 6-cylinder M256 unit, has been installed in a Mercedes-Benz GLS 450. The milestone celebration was attended by senior leadership from both organizations, including Force Motors Managing Director Prasan Firodia and key members of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG Board of Management.
Force Motors’ association with Mercedes-Benz in engine manufacturing began in 1997 and has evolved into a comprehensive partnership covering the production of engines and axles for all Mercedes-Benz cars and SUVs manufactured in India. Over the years, the relationship has been built on technological excellence, manufacturing precision, and a shared commitment to quality.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasan Firodia stated that the milestone represents more than just a production number. He emphasized that every engine produced at the Chakan facility reflects Force Motors’ dedication to engineering excellence and adherence to Mercedes-Benz’s global quality standards.
The achievement also showcases the success of Indo-German industrial collaboration. As the automotive industry undergoes rapid transformation, Force Motors continues to demonstrate its capability to deliver world-class manufacturing quality from India while supporting the government’s “Make in India” initiative.
Founded in 1958, Force Motors today operates five manufacturing facilities across India and employs over 10,000 people. The company has established itself as a key manufacturing partner for global automotive brands, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Every Mercedes-Benz vehicle produced in India is powered by an engine manufactured at Force Motors’ Chakan plant, underlining the strategic importance of this partnership.
The 200,000-engine milestone not only reflects Force Motors’ manufacturing capabilities but also highlights India’s growing prominence as a hub for high-precision automotive engineering and global supply chains.
