I’ve never really been a fan of smartwatches. Most feel like extensions of notifications rather than something you’d genuinely want to wear, either too bulky, too loud, or trying too hard to replace your phone. But when the Moto Watch arrived, it felt like a chance to revisit that opinion. Maybe this was a smartwatch that focused on being wearable first, and smart second.

A FAMILIAR BRAND, A FRESH RESET

Motorola’s wearable journey dates back to the Moto 360, but the Moto Watch feels like a reset. Priced at ₹5,999 for the stainless steel variant, it enters a crowded, feature-heavy segment. Instead of chasing gimmicks, though, it focuses on being a well-rounded, everyday wearable.

DESIGN THAT PUNCHES ABOVE ITS PRICE

The Moto Watch stands out with a premium, understated design. A sandblasted aluminium frame and 47mm circular dial lend it a clean, classic look. Available in Matte Black and Matte Silver, it leans toward traditional watch aesthetics rather than tech-heavy styling. You also get both stainless steel and silicone straps in the box, rare at this price. At 35 grams, it’s light, comfortable, and easy to wear all day, with intuitive crown and button placement.

DISPLAY AND SOFTWARE

The 1.4-inch OLED display delivers vivid colours and sharp text. Indoor visibility is strong, though outdoors, you’ll need max brightness. The Always-On Display works reliably. The proprietary OS is smooth and uncluttered, with simple navigation and a straightforward Android companion app.

FEATURES AND BATTERY

With GPS and Polar-backed health tracking, the feature list is solid on paper. Sleep tracking is useful, but step and heart-rate accuracy can vary, and GPS can be inconsistent. Battery life, however, impresses—lasting about a week even with AOD on, with a 90-minute charge time.

VERDICT: STYLE OVER PRECISION

It’s not the most feature-packed smartwatch, but it nails design, comfort, and battery, making it a stylish, easy daily companion.
