Bugatti has unveiled one of its most exclusive creations yet—the Destrier, a one-of-one hypercar developed under the brand’s prestigious Programme Solitaire. While it shares its engineering foundations with the track-focused Bolide, the Destrier has been completely reimagined as a sculptural masterpiece that prioritises craftsmanship, elegance and timeless design over outright aerodynamic performance. The bespoke creation is scheduled to make its public debut during Monterey Car Week before joining the private collection of its anonymous owner.

A UNIQUE TAKE ON THE BOLIDE

Rather than building an entirely new platform, Bugatti retained the Bolide’s advanced carbon-fibre monocoque and transformed its appearance by removing the aggressive wings, splitters and aerodynamic elements associated with the race-inspired hypercar. The result is a dramatically cleaner silhouette that highlights flowing body lines and sculpted proportions while drawing inspiration from the legendary Type 57 models of the 1930s. Standing just one metre tall, the Destrier maintains an unmistakable Bugatti identity while presenting a completely different visual character.

HANDCRAFTED INTERIOR

The cabin has been designed with the same attention to detail found in high-end luxury fashion. Premium leather, soft nubuck and an advanced knitted textile woven with real copper yarns dominate the interior, creating an atmosphere that feels both modern and handcrafted. Hand-finished aluminium components appear on the steering wheel, air vent controls, door handles and entry plates, while subtle French design elements pay tribute to Bugatti’s heritage. Every surface has been personalised specifically for the car’s sole owner, reinforcing the exclusivity of the project.

ICONIC W16 POWER

Although its styling has been completely transformed, the Destrier retains the heart of the Bolide. Power comes from Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing approximately 1,600 PS (around 1,578 HP). Rather than chasing lap records, the powertrain serves as a reminder that this sculpture on wheels is every bit as capable as the extreme machine from which it originated.

PROGRAMME SOLITAIRE

The Destrier has been created under Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire, an ultra-exclusive coachbuilding division that allows collectors to work directly with the company’s designers to commission completely bespoke vehicles. Inspired by Bugatti’s historic Type 57 lineage, the project demonstrates how one engineering platform can give birth to two entirely different automotive interpretations—one designed for the racetrack and the other created as rolling artwork.

PUBLIC DEBUT

The Bugatti Destrier will make its first public appearance during Monterey Car Week, including displays at The Quail and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. After these events, the one-off hypercar will be delivered to its owner and is expected to appear only occasionally at prestigious concours events and museum exhibitions. With its blend of historic inspiration, modern engineering and bespoke craftsmanship, the Destrier represents one of the most extraordinary commissions ever produced by Bugatti.
