BMW India has opened bookings for the new X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in the country, ahead of its official launch on August 21, 2026. The extended-wheelbase version is aimed at buyers looking for a more spacious and premium compact luxury SUV, with BMW highlighting its increased cabin room, comfort and technology. Bookings are now being accepted through BMW’s authorised dealership network, while customers can also register their interest online.

BOOKINGS OPEN AHEAD OF LAUNCH

Pre-launch bookings for the new BMW X1 LWB opened on August 10 at 3pm. The SUV will be available through BMW India’s authorised dealer network, giving prospective buyers the opportunity to secure their interest before deliveries begin. BMW has positioned the new model as an important addition to its luxury compact SUV portfolio.

MORE SPACE FOR REAR PASSENGERS

The longer body is expected to be the key attraction of the X1 LWB. BMW says the new version will offer the longest and most spacious package in its segment, with a particular focus on rear-seat room. The additional space is intended to make the SUV more comfortable for passengers while retaining the commanding driving position and practicality associated with the X1.

LOCALLY PRODUCED IN INDIA

The new BMW X1 LWB will be manufactured locally at BMW Group’s plant in Chennai. Local production will allow BMW to offer the extended-wheelbase SUV as part of its India portfolio while maintaining the brand’s focus on premium quality and driving dynamics.

LAUNCH DATE AND POSITIONING

BMW will officially launch the X1 LWB in India on August 21, 2026. The company says the model combines greater cabin space and comfort with modern technology and BMW’s characteristic driving dynamics. With its emphasis on rear-seat comfort and a more substantial road presence, the X1 LWB is set to bring a different proposition to the luxury compact SUV segment.

A MORE SPACIOUS X1 FOR INDIA

The BMW X1 LWB represents a significant expansion of the X1 formula for Indian buyers, particularly those who place a higher priority on rear-seat space without moving into a larger SUV category. With bookings now open and the India launch scheduled for August 21, more details about its specifications, features and pricing are expected to be revealed closer to the launch.
