Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reaffirmed its stronghold in the Indian automotive industry, maintaining its position as the second-largest passenger vehicle OEM in FY 24-25. The company’s impressive performance is underscored by its total sales of 7,62,052 units, which include domestic sales of 5,98,666 units and export sales of 1,63,386 units.
Hyundai CRETA Leads SUV Segment
Continuing its dominance in the SUV segment, the Hyundai CRETA has emerged as India’s No.1 SUV, registering sales of 52,898 units in the first quarter (January-March) of FY 24-25. The CRETA’s consistent performance further strengthens Hyundai’s position as a key player in the Indian market.
Sales Performance and Growth
- Hyundai recorded total monthly sales of 67,320 units in March 2025, with domestic sales at 51,820 units and exports at 15,500 units, reflecting a 2.6% year-on-year growth.
- SUVs accounted for a remarkable 68.5% of HMIL’s domestic sales in FY 24-25, showcasing the rising preference for Hyundai’s SUV lineup among Indian consumers.
- Hyundai surpassed two major industry milestones: 2.5 million SUV sales and 1.5 million CRETA sales cumulatively (domestic + exports).
Strengthening India’s Export Leadership
Hyundai Motor India continues to play a crucial role as an export hub for Hyundai Motor Company globally. With exports of 1,63,386 units in FY 24-25, HMIL remains India’s largest exporter of passenger vehicles cumulatively, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to global markets.
