Hyundai Motor Company has officially introduced the all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the Seoul Mobility Show 2025, reaffirming its leadership in hydrogen mobility. The second-generation NEXO boasts an enhanced design, cutting-edge technology, and improved performance, setting a new benchmark in the mid-size SUV segment.

Unparalleled Efficiency with More Than 700 km of Range

The all-new NEXO is engineered for greater efficiency, with Hyundai targeting a range exceeding 700 km on a single five-minute refill. Its upgraded hydrogen fuel cell system and high-efficiency inverter contribute to this impressive mileage, ensuring minimal environmental impact with zero tailpipe emissions.

The hydrogen fuel cell stack delivers 110 kW of maximum gross power, a 16% increase over its predecessor, while the new electric motor generates 150 kW. A revamped battery system now offers 80 kW of power, doubling the previous capacity. These improvements enhance acceleration, allowing the NEXO to achieve 0-100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, compared to 9.2 seconds in the previous model.

Striking ‘Art of Steel’ Design with Premium Interiors

Inspired by Hyundai’s INITIUM concept, the all-new NEXO embraces the ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy, reflecting the material’s strength and versatility. Its bold, aerodynamic silhouette, sculpted body lines, and HTWO Lamps give it a commanding road presence. Hyundai offers the new NEXO in six striking colors, including Goyo Copper Pearl, which embodies the essence of Korean culture.

Inside, the SUV features an ultra-modern, driver-centric cockpit with premium materials, ambient mood lighting, and a spacious layout. Highlights include:

  • Premium Relaxation Seats with leg rests for first-row passengers
  • Enhanced rear comfort with ventilated seats and increased reclining angle
  • 993 liters of cargo space, accommodating up to four golf bags
  • Smart storage solutions in the dashboard, door trims, and center console
  • Digital side mirrors for improved visibility and aerodynamics

Next-Gen Tech for Seamless Connectivity & Safety

Hyundai has equipped the NEXO with state-of-the-art technology for an intuitive driving experience. The ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) integrates a 12.3-inch driver information display and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, featuring:

  • Generative AI voice recognition for hands-free assistance
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates for software enhancements
  • Premium Bang & Olufsen Sound System with up to 14 speakers
  • Head-up display (HUD) projecting key driving information on the windshield

Revolutionary Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology & Performance

The NEXO’s new Smart Regenerative System (SRS) optimizes braking efficiency based on road conditions, while its e-Handling system enhances grip and stability. Hyundai has also introduced Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) and sound-absorbing tires to improve cabin refinement.

The SUV’s towing capability of up to 1,000 kg (European models) makes it the first FCEV to offer such functionality, expanding its versatility for adventurous users.

Advanced Safety & Driver Assistance Features

Hyundai aims for top-tier safety ratings with a reinforced multi-skeleton body structure, nine airbags, and cutting-edge ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), including:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) 2.0
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) & Lane Following Assist (LFA) 2
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Navigation-based Adjustments
  • Rear Occupant Alert System to prevent accidental passenger entrapment
  • Digital Key 2 for smartphone-based vehicle access and control

Hyundai’s Vision for Hydrogen Mobility

With nearly three decades of experience in fuel cell technology, Hyundai continues to drive forward with its hydrogen ambitions. The all-new NEXO underscores the brand’s dedication to diversified vehicle electrification, positioning FCEVs as a key pillar alongside battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrids.

The all-new Hyundai NEXO represents a future where hydrogen mobility is not just an alternative but a mainstream solution for sustainable transportation. Stay tuned for its global availability and pricing details as Hyundai prepares for its market launch.
