Kia India has officially unveiled the much-anticipated Carens Clavis at a grand global premiere. Derived from the Latin word Clavis, meaning “golden key,” the new Carens Clavis represents a bold evolution of Kia’s popular MPV, combining premium styling, cutting-edge technology, and versatile performance. Bookings for the Carens Clavis will open tomorrow, May 9, with a token amount of Rs 25,000.

A golden era of design and innovation

Building on the success of the Carens, the new Kia Carens Clavis introduces an elevated design language with its signature front and rear styling, enhanced by 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that provide a commanding road presence. Buyers can choose between 6- and 7-seater layouts, making it ideal for both families and adventure seekers.

The Carens Clavis also brings a host of premium features, including a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, twin 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, a new flat-bottom steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and a premium 8-speaker Bose sound system. Safety is prioritised with six airbags, an ADAS suite, and a 360-degree camera.

Engine and transmission options

The Carens Clavis offers three powerful engine choices, catering to a wide range of driving preferences:

• 1.5-litre NA petrol engine producing 114bhp and 144 Nm torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
• 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 158bhp and 253 Nm torque, available with a 6-speed MT, iMT (clutchless manual), and 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
• 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 114 bhp and 250 Nm torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

This versatile lineup addresses the increasing preference among Kia Carens buyers, where 58% choose petrol variants and 32% prefer automatic and iMT transmissions.

Pricing and availability

While the official prices are expected to be announced soon, bookings for the Kia Carens Clavis will commence from May 9, requiring a booking amount of Rs 25,000. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly after the official launch.
