India’s electric vehicle (EV) innovation ecosystem received a major boost as the Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI) and Micelio Mobility announced that their pioneering Digital Twin Lab is now fully operational. The facility will be showcased at Micelio’s Global Clean Mobility Summit 2025, underscoring India’s growing focus on simulation-led EV development.
The Digital Twin Lab operates under a Hub-and-Spoke model — with the main hub at ARAI, Pune, and two spokes located at Micelio Discovery Studio, Bengaluru, and IIT Guwahati Tech Park. Supported by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, this initiative enables advanced digital twin simulations that allow startups, MSMEs, and automotive manufacturers to accelerate EV design, validation, and deployment.
Dr. Reji Mathai, Director of ARAI, said :- ARAI is proud to announce the strategic expansion of its Digital Twinning services across India. As the nation advances towards a future of intelligent and sustainable mobility, ARAI remains committed to empowering OEMs, startups, and innovators with cutting-edge solutions. We value our collaboration with Micelio and appreciate the Ministry of Heavy Industries for their continued support in driving green mobility initiatives.
The lab offers comprehensive modeling capabilities for critical EV components such as battery packs, motors, and drivetrains. Using Hardware-in-Loop systems and AI/ML-based simulation tools, it can accurately predict vehicle performance under various real-world conditions — including energy efficiency, wear-and-tear, and thermal behavior.

Mr. Shreyas Shibulal, Founder and Director of Micelio Mobility, highlighted :- This lab represents a fundamental shift in how India approaches EV innovation. By offering access to advanced digital twin infrastructure, we’re reducing development time and costs while empowering Indian innovators to create globally competitive, locally relevant solutions.
The Digital Twin Lab aligns with the government’s key initiatives — Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and the Digital Public Infrastructure framework. Its launch also complements this year’s Global Clean Mobility Summit theme: “Next Starts Now: Sustain and Scale.
By bridging simulation technology with real-world EV applications, the ARAI-Micelio Digital Twin Lab is not just a technological milestone — it marks a transformative step in making India a global hub for sustainable mobility innovation.
