Electric mobility startup Ultraviolette Automotive has introduced a new ownership model called Battery Flex, enabling customers to purchase the Ultraviolette X-47 crossover electric motorcycle at a significantly lower upfront price. With this initiative, the X-47 can now be owned starting at ₹1.49 lakh, reducing the initial cost of ownership by nearly 40 percent compared to the conventional purchase model.

Announced in Bengaluru on March 5, 2026, the Battery Flex program introduces a Battery as a Service (BaaS) system developed in partnership with Ecofy, a green focused NBFC that supports sustainable technology financing. The program aims to make high performance electric mobility more accessible to Indian consumers.
Under this model, buyers pay for the motorcycle chassis upfront while subscribing to the battery pack through a monthly plan starting at ₹2,499 per month. The subscription also includes a five year warranty on the battery pack, ensuring reliability and long term peace of mind for riders.

Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co Founder of Ultraviolette, highlighted that the new pricing approach significantly improves affordability in the performance motorcycle segment. He explained that while the X-47 earlier competed with premium internal combustion engine motorcycles at around ₹2.5 lakh, the new pricing structure now allows riders to access advanced electric technology at nearly ₹1.5 lakh, making it far more accessible.
Beyond affordability, the initiative also reduces running costs for customers. With subscription fees lower than the average monthly spending on petrol for many riders, Ultraviolette aims to deliver a cost-effective and sustainable mobility alternative.
The company has invested heavily in battery technology and performance engineering. Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co Founder, emphasized that the battery pack remains the core of the vehicle’s innovation. Through Battery Flex, Ultraviolette intends to offer customers both technological reliability and ownership flexibility.

Once the subscription period ends, battery ownership is transferred to the customer at no additional cost, making the model both economical and future ready.
With enrolments starting from March 5, 2026, Battery Flex represents Ultraviolette’s next step in accelerating EV adoption in India while making advanced electric motorcycles more accessible to riders across the country.
