JSW MG Motor India has announced a major milestone for its electric vehicle portfolio, revealing that the MG Windsor EV has recorded nearly 70% of its total sales from non metro cities. This trend highlights a growing shift in consumer behaviour, as electric vehicles gain popularity beyond traditional urban strongholds.
The company also confirmed that cumulative sales of the MG Windsor have crossed 65,000 units, reinforcing its position as India’s best-selling electric vehicle. While metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai contributed 30% of sales, the majority came from tier 2 and tier 3 markets, indicating a broader nationwide acceptance of EV technology.
STRONG DEMAND FROM NON-METRO MARKETS
The rising demand in smaller cities is being driven by increasing awareness, improved charging infrastructure, and the overall cost advantages of owning an electric vehicle. Buyers in these regions are now more open to adopting sustainable mobility solutions, especially as running costs and maintenance benefits become clearer.

MG Motor India highlighted that the Windsor’s strong value proposition has played a key role in attracting first-time buyers in these markets, many of whom are transitioning directly to EVs instead of traditional internal combustion vehicles.
UNIQUE ‘ABC’ VALUE PROPOSITION
A major factor behind the MG Windsor’s popularity is its unique ‘ABC’ positioning. The vehicle offers the affordability of an A segment car, the exterior footprint of a B segment vehicle, and the spacious interiors of a C segment model.

This combination has made it particularly appealing to families and value-conscious buyers who seek maximum space and features at a competitive price point.
PERFORMANCE, RANGE AND FLEXIBLE OWNERSHIP
The MG Windsor, positioned as India’s first Intelligent CUV, combines sedan like comfort with SUV like versatility. It is powered by a 100 kW (136 PS) motor producing 200 Nm of torque, delivering a balanced performance for both city and highway driving.

Customers can choose between two battery options a 38 kWh pack offering a range of 332 km, and a larger 52.9 kWh PRO variant delivering up to 449 km on a single charge.
The vehicle is also available with a Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, starting at INR 9.99 lakh plus INR 3.9 per km, making EV ownership more accessible. Additional benefits such as a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner and a 3-60 assured buyback plan further enhance customer confidence.
FUTURISTIC DESIGN AND PREMIUM INTERIORS
MG Windsor features a modern ‘Aero Glide’ design language that sets it apart in the EV segment. Inside, the cabin offers premium comfort with Aero Lounge seats that recline up to 135 degrees, creating a business-class experience for passengers.

The large 15.6-inch GRANDVIEW touchscreen provides an intuitive and tech-forward driving experience, catering to digitally connected users.
EV ADOPTION EXPANDS BEYOND METROS
The MG Windsor’s strong performance in non metro cities reflects a larger transformation in India’s automotive landscape. EV adoption is no longer limited to major urban centres and is rapidly expanding across the country, driven by affordability, awareness, and evolving consumer preferences.
