BMW is gearing up to introduce its next generation electric SUV, the iX3 Long Wheelbase, marking a significant step forward in its electrification strategy. Scheduled to make its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, the new model is built on BMW’s advanced Neue Klasse architecture and showcases the brand’s latest innovations in design, technology, and performance.
Developed under the philosophy of “In China, for China, and with China,” the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase reflects a strong focus on localization while also contributing to BMW’s global product roadmap. This approach highlights the growing importance of the Chinese market in shaping future BMW technologies.
LONG WHEELBASE DESIGN ENHANCES COMFORT
A key highlight of the iX3 Long Wheelbase is its extended wheelbase, which has been increased by 108 mm. This results in significantly improved rear seat comfort and enhanced cabin space, catering to premium buyers who prioritize luxury and practicality.

Despite the added length, BMW has maintained its signature driving dynamics. The SUV features a specially tuned chassis and suspension setup that ensures a smooth balance between ride comfort and handling precision, making it suitable for both city driving and long distance journeys.
NEXT GENERATION DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
The BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase introduces the brand’s latest Panoramic iDrive system, built on the new BMW Operating System X. This system delivers a highly intuitive user experience through a driver focused layout that integrates a head up display, central screen, and advanced control interface.

Additionally, the vehicle offers enhanced connectivity features, including AI powered voice interaction and seamless integration with smartphones and digital ecosystems. This ensures a more personalized and convenient driving experience for modern users.
ADVANCED ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE
Under the hood, the iX3 Long Wheelbase is powered by BMW’s sixth generation eDrive technology, supported by an 800V electrical architecture. This setup enables an impressive driving range of over 900 km (CLTC), positioning it among the most efficient electric SUVs in its segment.

Charging performance is equally impressive, with the ability to add over 400 km of range in just 10 minutes using fast charging. The SUV also features vehicle to load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to power external devices, adding to its versatility.
GLOBAL LAUNCH AND MARKET IMPACT
The BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase is currently undergoing final testing ahead of its official launch. Following its debut, the model is expected to be introduced in key international markets, including India.

With its blend of cutting edge technology, premium comfort, and long range electric performance, the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase is set to play a crucial role in BMW’s future EV lineup and redefine expectations in the luxury electric SUV segment.
