Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has expanded its footprint in the Northeast by inaugurating a new BharatBenz workshop in Silchar, Assam. The facility, operated in partnership with PPS Trucking, aims to enhance service accessibility, reduce downtime, and support the growing demand for commercial vehicles in the region.
STRATEGIC LOCATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Located on the Silchar Bypass near ISBT (NH 37), the newly opened workshop spans 30,000 sq. ft. and features eight fully equipped service bays. With an annual servicing capacity of up to 3,000 vehicles, the centre is designed to handle increasing logistics demand across Assam and neighbouring states like Mizoram and Manipur.
The facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic systems, modern tools, and genuine BharatBenz spare parts, ensuring efficient turnaround times and reliable service support.
ENHANCED SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT
The Silchar workshop introduces 24×7 roadside assistance through mobile service vans, offering on road support to fleet operators in remote and high demand routes. This initiative is expected to significantly improve vehicle uptime and operational efficiency.
Additionally, the service centre includes driver rest areas and customer focused amenities, highlighting DICV’s emphasis on comfort and convenience alongside technical excellence.
STRENGTHENING NORTHEAST LOGISTICS NETWORK
The Northeast region is witnessing rapid growth in commercial vehicle activity due to infrastructure development projects such as Asom Mala 3.0 and increased industrial demand from limestone mining in the North Cachar Hills. The new workshop is strategically positioned to support this growth by improving service reach across key logistics corridors.
By strengthening spare parts availability and service proximity, BharatBenz and PPS Trucking aim to boost fleet productivity and reduce operational delays in this critical region.
PARTNERSHIP AND LONG TERM VISION
DICV’s collaboration with PPS Trucking reflects a shared commitment to enhancing customer experience and expanding service networks. The Silchar facility will be operated by 32 trained technicians, ensuring high quality service delivery and consistent performance standards.
The workshop will offer comprehensive maintenance solutions, including preventive servicing, scheduled maintenance, express services, and on site support. This integrated approach is designed to maximize uptime and improve total cost of ownership for customers.
