Electric vehicle giant Tesla has expanded its footprint in India with the inauguration of a new Experience Center in Bengaluru’s Whitefield, one of the country’s biggest technology hubs. Alongside the opening, Tesla also introduced the newly launched Model Y L, a premium three-row six-seater electric SUV priced from ₹61.99 lakh. 

The new Experience Center is located at VR Bengaluru on Whitefield Main Road, Mahadevapura, allowing customers in India’s Silicon Valley to explore Tesla’s latest electric mobility technologies. Starting May 14, 2026, visitors can experience both the globally popular Model Y and the all-new Model Y L. 

Tesla stated that the expansion aligns with its mission to accelerate sustainable transportation while addressing India’s growing demand for premium electric vehicles. The company has also announced the commencement of after-sales service operations in Whitefield to strengthen customer support and ownership experience in Bengaluru. 

The newly launched Model Y L has been designed as a family-oriented electric SUV featuring three-row seating for six occupants. The EV offers a claimed driving range of up to 681 km (WLTP) and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 5.0 seconds. Tesla says the SUV also provides cargo space of up to 2,539 litres, making it suitable for long-distance family travel and daily urban mobility alike. 

Tesla highlighted that both the Model Y and Model Y L have received top safety ratings from multiple global safety organizations, including NHTSA, IIHS, Euro NCAP, ANCAP and CIASI. The company claims the vehicles set new benchmarks in safety, performance, efficiency and advanced technology. 

The automaker also emphasized its Supercharging technology, which can add up to 288 km of range in just 15 minutes for the Model Y L. Tesla further confirmed that home charging support will be available in India to improve convenience for EV owners. 

The Model Y L is now available for booking through Tesla’s official website, while customers can also visit Tesla Experience Centers in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram for test drives and enquiries.
