Porsche has unveiled the updated 2027 Taycan, introducing a range of technology and performance upgrades aimed at making its flagship electric sedan even more engaging to drive. The highlight of the update is the debut of the brand’s new E-Shift system, which simulates gear changes to recreate the feel of a traditional performance car.

Designed to deliver a more immersive driving experience, the E-Shift feature allows drivers to manually select from eight virtual gears using steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The system mimics real-world gear transitions through simulated shift jolts, drag torque, and engine-braking effects, bringing a more mechanical feel to the electric driving experience.
To complement the virtual gearbox, Porsche has also added a digital rev limiter and gear indicator within the instrument cluster. The updated Taycan further enhances the sensory experience with the latest version of Porsche Electric Sport Sound, which adjusts audio feedback based on speed, acceleration, and driving conditions.
FIRST ELECTRIC PORSCHE TO RECEIVE MANTHEY PERFORMANCE PACKAGE
For the first time, Porsche is offering its renowned Manthey performance package on an electric vehicle. Available exclusively on the Taycan Turbo GT, the package includes aerodynamic improvements, increased downforce, upgraded brakes, forged wheels, and additional performance-focused enhancements.

The move follows the Taycan Turbo GT’s record-setting performance at the Nürburgring, where a Manthey-equipped version established a new benchmark for electric production vehicles.
UPDATED TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVED RANGE
Inside the cabin, the Taycan receives Porsche’s latest-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system. The new software platform offers significantly faster processing speeds, improved graphics, updated widgets, and enhanced voice recognition capabilities.
Existing Taycan owners will also benefit from over-the-air software updates that introduce new digital features and applications. Additionally, the wireless smartphone charging pad now supports faster 25W charging.
Porsche has also focused on efficiency improvements. New low-resistance summer tyres available for the rear-wheel-drive variant can increase driving range by up to 20km under certain conditions.
The 2027 Porsche Taycan continues to be offered with battery options ranging from 89kWph to 105kWph, while power outputs span from 408bhp to 1,034bhp depending on the variant. Maximum claimed driving range stands at 668kmph, further strengthening the Taycan’s position among premium electric performance cars.
