Ducati has officially unveiled the all-new Desmo250 MX, marking the next step in the Italian manufacturer’s growing presence in the motocross segment. Arriving a year after the launch of the Desmo450 MX, the new quarter-litre machine brings Ducati’s legendary desmodromic valve technology to one of motocross’s most competitive categories.
Developed and tested in competition with Italian motocross champion Alessandro Lupino, the Desmo250 MX has been engineered to deliver exceptional precision, control and reliability while retaining the high-performance DNA associated with Ducati motorcycles.

HIGH-REVVING DESMODROMIC ENGINE SETS NEW BENCHMARK
At the heart of the Desmo250 MX is an all-new 250cc single-cylinder engine that produces 44.5 hp at 12,500 rpm and can rev all the way to 15,000 rpm, a figure rarely seen in the motocross segment.
The engine borrows several technologies from Ducati’s Panigale V4 R superbike, including identical bore and stroke dimensions of 81 x 48.4 mm. Ducati says the powerplant has been designed to deliver strong low-end torque while maintaining impressive top-end performance, giving riders a wider usable powerband during racing conditions.
A 44mm Mikuni throttle body, a newly developed exhaust system, a five-speed gearbox with quickshifter, and a hydraulically operated Brembo clutch further enhance performance and rideability..

The result is an engine that allows anyone to express themselves to the fullest and adapt to different riding needs, without limiting the potential required by more experienced riders.
LIGHTWEIGHT CHASSIS FOCUSES ON RIDER CONFIDENCE
The Desmo250 MX shares its aluminium perimeter frame and swingarm architecture with the larger Desmo450 MX. Ducati engineers have carefully optimized chassis stiffness to provide improved rider feedback during braking and cornering.

The motorcycle tips the scales at just 103 kg (without fuel) and features Showa suspension components specifically developed for the new model. The setup has been tuned to reduce weight transfer under braking and acceleration while maintaining stability across varying terrain conditions.
Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tyres come as standard equipment, while braking duties are handled by a Brembo-Galfer combination featuring a 260 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc.
ADVANCED ELECTRONICS INSPIRED BY MOTOGP
One of the biggest highlights of the Desmo250 MX is its sophisticated electronics package. Ducati has equipped the motocross machine with customizable engine maps, launch control, engine brake settings and a patented Ducati Traction Control system.

Unlike conventional systems, Ducati’s traction control monitors actual rear-wheel slip and adjusts power delivery accordingly, resulting in smoother and more effective intervention. Riders can fine-tune settings using the Ducati X-Link smartphone application.
PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGY MAKES ITS DEBUT
Drawing on expertise gained from MotoGP and World Superbike, Ducati has introduced an advanced predictive maintenance system on the Desmo250 MX.

The system continuously calculates an engine stress index based on riding conditions and usage patterns. Maintenance intervals are then automatically adjusted through the Ducati X-Link app, allowing owners to monitor service requirements based on actual riding intensity rather than fixed schedules.
AVAILABILITY AND ACCESSORIES
Ducati will offer an extensive range of factory accessories through its Ducati Performance catalogue, including racing-inspired components, Akrapovič exhaust options, Brembo Racing brake upgrades, and performance suspension kits.

The Desmo250 MX will arrive at selected European dealerships from July 2026 with a starting price of £8,995 in the UK. North American deliveries will begin in August, followed by additional global markets.
