Renault India has expanded the Kiger lineup with the introduction of the new Evolution+ Turbo variant, making the compact SUV’s turbo-petrol range significantly more accessible. Priced at ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant lowers the entry point to the Kiger turbo range by ₹1.46 lakh compared to the previously most affordable Emotion Turbo manual variant.

The move strengthens the Kiger’s value proposition in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, where affordability and feature-rich offerings continue to influence buyer decisions.

MORE AFFORDABLE TURBO-PETROL OPTION

The newly introduced Evolution+ Turbo is powered by Renault’s 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 100bhp and 160Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and delivers a balance of performance and efficiency for everyday driving.

With the launch of this variant, buyers can now access the Kiger’s turbo-petrol powertrain at a considerably lower price point, making it one of the more attractive offerings in its segment.

FEATURES BORROWED FROM HIGHER VARIANTS

Based on the Evolution trim, the Evolution+ variant receives several convenience features previously reserved for higher-spec versions. These include keyless entry, push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and wireless smartphone connectivity.

The variant also retains equipment such as LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted controls, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a rear-view camera.

NEW MANUAL OPTION FOR TECHNO TURBO

Renault has also introduced a manual transmission option for the Techno Turbo variant. Previously available only with a CVT automatic gearbox, the Techno Turbo manual is priced at ₹8.45 lakh (ex-showroom), making it ₹90,000 more affordable than the CVT version.

ENGINE OPTIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED

The Renault Kiger continues to be offered with two petrol engine choices. The naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine produces 72bhp and 96Nm and is available with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. Renault also offers a CNG retrofit option with the manual version.

Meanwhile, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine develops 100bhp and 160Nm and can be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.

STRONGER VALUE IN THE COMPACT SUV SEGMENT

With the addition of the Evolution+ Turbo variant, Renault aims to attract buyers looking for turbocharged performance without stretching their budgets. The Kiger continues to compete against rivals such as the Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Fronx, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kushaq.

The latest update makes the Kiger’s turbocharged lineup more accessible while retaining the features and practicality that have contributed to its popularity in the Indian market.
