Porsche has pulled the wraps off the all-new 911 GT4 R (Generation 992.2), a purpose-built customer race car developed for the 2027 racing season. Based on the latest 992.2-generation 911 Cup platform, the GT4 R has been engineered to compete under SRO GT4 regulations while delivering greater performance, improved reliability and enhanced driver confidence. The new model continues Porsche Motorsport’s long-standing commitment to customer racing by combining proven mechanical engineering with the latest motorsport technology.

A RACE CAR BUILT FOR CUSTOMER TEAMS
The new Porsche 911 GT4 R has been designed specifically for private teams and gentleman racers competing in GT4 championships around the world. Retaining Porsche’s iconic rear-engine layout, the race car features a lightweight aluminium-steel composite body, FIA-compliant integrated roll cage and aerodynamic improvements throughout the chassis. Every component has been developed with durability, serviceability and consistent race performance in mind, making it suitable for endurance racing as well as sprint formats.

NATURALLY ASPIRATED BOXER PERFORMANCE
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six boxer engine producing up to 520hp and 470Nm of torque, subject to Balance of Performance regulations. In its factory GT4 configuration with the supplied air restrictor, the engine develops 430hp and 422Nm while revving all the way to an impressive 8,750rpm. The engine is paired with Porsche’s six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox featuring paddle-shift operation, an electronically actuated shift barrel and a mechanical limited-slip differential for rapid gear changes and maximum traction.

ENGINEERED FOR THE TRACK
Chassis development focuses heavily on precision and reliability. The front suspension adopts a double wishbone setup, while the rear uses a multi-link arrangement with adjustable ride height, camber and toe settings. Two-way adjustable dampers, forged suspension components and adjustable anti-roll bars allow teams to fine-tune the car for different circuits and driving styles.

Braking performance has also received significant attention. Large ventilated 380mm steel discs are paired with six-piston front and four-piston rear racing calipers, supported by Bosch Generation 5 race ABS and adjustable brake bias. Porsche has also incorporated improved cooling ducts, larger brake fluid reservoirs and hydraulic leak detection to improve endurance race reliability.
COCKPIT DESIGNED AROUND THE DRIVER
Inside, the GT4 R features a driver-focused cockpit equipped with a multifunction carbon-fibre steering wheel, a 10.3-inch colour display and an ergonomic digital touch panel with tactile feedback. The FIA-approved racing bucket seat offers extensive adjustability and can be tailored to different drivers using interchangeable padding. Enhanced cockpit ventilation, an integrated air-jack system, a 110-litre FT3 safety fuel cell and six-point racing harness underline the car’s focus on long-distance competition.

ADVANCED MOTORSPORT TECHNOLOGY
The 911 GT4 R integrates Porsche’s latest motorsport electronics, including Porsche Motorsport Traction Control, Bosch engine management, Porsche data logger, GPS-based lap timing and race telemetry. Teams also benefit from configurable drivetrain warm-up modes, pit-speed adjustment, steering angle calibration and multiple ECU mapping options. LED lighting with integrated daytime running lights, rain lights and engine-stall indicators further improve safety during endurance events.
THE NEXT CHAPTER IN CUSTOMER RACING
Weighing approximately 1,515kg, the 2027 Porsche 911 GT4 R represents an evolution rather than a complete reinvention. Porsche has focused on refining every aspect of the race car—from aerodynamics and braking to suspension and electronics—while maintaining the proven formula that has made its customer racing programme one of the most successful in global motorsport. With improved drivability, enhanced reliability and cutting-edge race technology, the new GT4 R is ready to become a formidable contender across GT4 championships worldwide.
