BYD India expands its Corporate Social Responsibility programme with initiatives supporting education, healthcare and environmental sustainability across Tamil Nadu.

BYD India has expanded its commitment to sustainable development beyond electric mobility by introducing a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives focused on education, healthcare and environmental sustainability in Tamil Nadu. Implemented in partnership with FEEED NGO, these initiatives aim to improve essential community infrastructure while creating a lasting social impact.

SUPPORTING EDUCATION

A key highlight of the programme is the School Infrastructure Development Project at the Government Panchayat Union Primary School in Keevalur Village, Sriperumbudur. The initiative is designed to create a safer, more accessible and engaging learning environment by upgrading classrooms, improving teaching spaces, enhancing campus facilities and providing learning tools for students and educators.

Nearly 200 students are expected to benefit each year, while teachers will also gain access to improved workspaces that support more effective classroom engagement and better learning outcomes.

IMPROVING HEALTHCARE

Recognising that quality healthcare is equally important to community development, BYD India has also extended support to the Uthiramerur Government Hospital in Kancheepuram district. As part of the initiative, the company has provided advanced hospital beds to improve patient care, comfort and recovery conditions.

These upgrades are expected to assist healthcare professionals in delivering more efficient treatment while strengthening the hospital’s overall infrastructure.

PROMOTING A GREENER FUTURE

Environmental sustainability forms the third pillar of the company’s CSR programme. In collaboration with FEEED NGO, BYD India conducted a plantation drive to promote greener community spaces and encourage biodiversity.

The initiative aligns with the company’s broader sustainability philosophy by contributing to healthier surroundings while reinforcing awareness about environmental conservation among local communities.

LONG-TERM SOCIAL IMPACT

Commenting on the initiatives, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said that sustainability extends beyond clean mobility and includes creating meaningful, long-term value for the communities the company serves. He added that investments in education, healthcare and environmental stewardship play a vital role in building stronger societies and improving the quality of life for future generations.

The latest projects are part of BYD India’s broader CSR strategy, which focuses on strengthening community infrastructure through practical, need-based interventions. The company works closely with implementation partners and local stakeholders to ensure that every initiative delivers measurable and lasting benefits.

Globally, BYD has sold more than 16.5 million New Energy Vehicles, contributing significantly to reducing carbon emissions. As the company continues to expand its presence in India, it remains committed not only to advancing sustainable mobility but also to investing in initiatives that improve education, healthcare and environmental well-being for communities across the country.
