Yamaha has officially entered India’s premium electric scooter segment with the launch of the all-new Aerox-E at an introductory price of ₹2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). Designed as an electric maxi-scooter, the Aerox-E focuses on sporty performance, premium technology and distinctive styling rather than mass-market affordability. Inspired by the popular Aerox 155, the new model carries forward Yamaha’s performance DNA while embracing an all-electric powertrain for urban commuting.

SPORTY PERFORMANCE WITH EVERYDAY USABILITY

Powering the Aerox-E is a 9.4 kW electric motor that develops 48 Nm of instant torque, allowing the scooter to achieve a claimed top speed of approximately 95.5 km/h. Energy is supplied by two removable 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery packs that together offer a certified riding range of up to 117 km. The removable battery setup makes charging more convenient, especially for riders who may not have access to dedicated charging infrastructure at home. Yamaha states that charging a single battery takes around 3 hours and 10 minutes, while charging both batteries requires approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes.

FEATURES DESIGNED FOR MODERN RIDERS

The Aerox-E comes equipped with a comprehensive list of premium features aimed at enhancing both convenience and riding experience. Riders can choose between Eco, Standard and Power ride modes, while a dedicated Boost mode delivers quicker acceleration when required. Additional highlights include reverse assist, a 5-inch TFT colour display, Bluetooth connectivity through Yamaha’s Y-Connect application, turn-by-turn navigation, a smart key system, traction control, and single-channel ABS. These features position the scooter among the most technologically advanced offerings in Yamaha’s Indian lineup.

PREMIUM POSITIONING FOR PERFORMANCE ENTHUSIASTS

While the Aerox-E retains the aggressive styling and sporty riding position of its petrol-powered sibling, the placement of the battery packs beneath the seat reduces under-seat storage capacity to 15 litres. Riders can also operate the scooter using a single battery pack, although overall performance is reduced in that configuration. Priced considerably higher than mainstream electric scooters from brands such as Ola Electric, TVS, Bajaj and Ather, the Aerox-E is clearly aimed at buyers who value premium build quality, advanced electronics, distinctive maxi-scooter styling and engaging riding dynamics over affordability. With this launch, Yamaha strengthens its presence in India’s evolving electric mobility market while targeting enthusiasts looking for a more performance-focused electric scooter.
