BMW is preparing to introduce the M2 M xDrive in India, giving enthusiasts a new version of its compact performance coupe with enhanced traction and sharper acceleration. While the current M2 is available only with rear-wheel drive, the upcoming M xDrive variant adds BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system without sacrificing the engaging driving character that has made the M2 a favourite among enthusiasts. The new model is expected to join the existing M2 range in India soon.

OVERVIEW

The M2 M xDrive expands BMW’s performance portfolio by combining everyday usability with track-inspired engineering. It shares its core architecture with the standard M2 but introduces a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system for improved grip and stability in varying driving conditions. The coupe is aimed at buyers who want higher performance without giving up confidence on different road surfaces.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE

Power comes from BMW’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol engine producing 480 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, the coupe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. The electronically limited top speed is 250 km/h, which increases to 285 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package.
ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE TECHNOLOGY

The new M xDrive system intelligently distributes power between the front and rear axles while maintaining a rear-wheel-drive feel. Drivers can choose between 4WD, 4WD Sport and a dedicated 2WD mode for a more traditional performance experience. An Active M Differential further improves traction during hard acceleration and spirited cornering.
DESIGN AND EXTERIOR

Visually, the M2 M xDrive closely resembles the existing coupe with muscular proportions, wide wheel arches and an aggressive front fascia. It rides on staggered alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. BMW has also introduced a new Borusan Turkish Blue paint option to distinguish the AWD model.
INTERIOR AND FEATURES

The cabin continues with BMW’s curved display featuring a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. M Sport seats, premium upholstery, configurable driving modes and dedicated M controls create a driver-focused environment. A new drivetrain menu provides quick access to the all-wheel-drive settings.
EXPECTED INDIA LAUNCH AND PRICE

BMW has not confirmed an official launch date, but the M2 M xDrive is expected to arrive in India in the coming months. The current M2 range starts at approximately ₹1.06 crore (ex-showroom), and the AWD variant is likely to be priced at a premium. With faster acceleration, improved traction and the versatility of an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, the M2 M xDrive is expected to strengthen BMW’s performance lineup in India.
