DESIGN, FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE

The Tekton adopts a bold SUV design inspired by Nissan’s global styling language. The front features a large grille, C-shaped LED daytime running lights, sleek LED headlamps and silver skid plates that reinforce its rugged character. The profile is highlighted by 18-inch alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches and clean body lines, while the rear receives connected LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler and prominent Tekton branding.

Inside, Nissan has equipped the SUV with a premium cabin featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charger, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate and connected car technology.

Power comes from two turbo-petrol engines. The entry-level 1.0-litre unit produces 100 PS and 166 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Higher variants receive a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 163 PS and 280 Nm, available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

SAFETY, RIVALS AND VERDICT

Safety equipment includes six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, rain-sensing wipers, all-wheel disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. Nissan also claims a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for the Tekton.

The new SUV enters one of India’s most competitive segments and will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara. With attractive introductory pricing, bold styling, premium features and multiple engine choices, the Nissan Tekton gives buyers another compelling option in the midsize SUV category and signals Nissan’s renewed focus on the Indian market.
