Mercedes-Benz is set to expand its electrified performance lineup in India with the launch of the new Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ on July 23. The premium sports sedan combines a powerful six-cylinder petrol engine with plug-in hybrid technology to deliver impressive performance while offering the flexibility of electric-only driving. With its blend of luxury, advanced technology and everyday practicality, the new E 53 aims to redefine the performance sedan segment in India.
PLUG-IN HYBRID POWERTRAIN

Powering the new AMG E 53 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor integrated into a nine-speed automatic transmission. Together, the system produces a combined output of 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque. Buyers opting for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package can unlock a temporary boost of 612 hp using Race Start mode, making the sedan even more capable during hard acceleration.
STRONG PERFORMANCE

The performance-oriented hybrid sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds with the optional performance package. Top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h. Mercedes-AMG has also equipped the car with an adaptive suspension system, reinforced chassis components and upgraded brakes to complement its increased power output while maintaining everyday comfort.
ELECTRIC RANGE AND CHARGING

A 21.2 kWh battery pack allows the E 53 Hybrid to travel more than 100 km on electric power alone under claimed testing conditions. The vehicle can operate in pure EV mode at speeds of up to 140 km/h, making it suitable for daily urban commuting. The battery supports 11 kW AC charging, while international models also offer optional 60 kW DC fast charging that can recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes.
AMG DESIGN UPDATES
The exterior receives several AMG-specific enhancements, including an illuminated Panamericana grille, larger front air intakes, wider wheel arches, a sporty rear diffuser and quad exhaust outlets. Models equipped with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package also feature distinctive red brake calipers and additional performance-inspired styling elements that set them apart from the standard E-Class.
PREMIUM CABIN AND TECHNOLOGY

Inside, the cabin features AMG sports seats, a multifunction performance steering wheel and premium trim finishes. The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 14.4-inch central touchscreen running the latest MBUX infotainment system. International versions can also be equipped with the optional MBUX Superscreen, adding a dedicated passenger display for an even more immersive digital experience.
INDIA LAUNCH EXPECTATIONS
Mercedes-Benz will officially reveal the pricing of the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ on July 23. The model marks the return of the E 53 sedan to the Indian market and strengthens Mercedes-AMG’s growing portfolio of electrified performance vehicles. Combining powerful acceleration, everyday usability and a substantial electric driving range, the new E 53 Hybrid is expected to appeal to buyers seeking a luxury sports sedan with modern hybrid technology.
