BMW India has opened bookings for the first-ever BMW i5 Long Wheelbase, which will be locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai. The electric sedan will become the second BMW electric model to roll out from the facility and the first locally produced electric sedan from BMW India.

BMW I5 LONG WHEELBASE: SIZE AND PERFORMANCE

The BMW i5 Long Wheelbase measures 5,175mm in length, 2,156mm in width and 1,520mm in height, with a 3,105mm wheelbase. BMW says it offers one of the most spacious cabins in its segment, with a focus on rear-seat comfort.

Power comes from an electric motor producing 271.72bhp, allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.7 seconds. It uses an 81.6kWh high-voltage battery and offers a claimed range of up to 669km (MIDC) on a single charge.

DESIGNED FOR INDIAN ROAD CONDITIONS

The i5 Long Wheelbase gets adaptive rear-axle air suspension and enhanced ground clearance. These features are aimed at delivering improved ride comfort and composure across varying Indian road conditions while retaining BMW’s driving characteristics.

BMW I5 LWB FIRST EDITION

BMW India is also introducing an exclusive BMW i5 LWB First Edition, limited to just 99 customers. It adds a rear-seat entertainment package with a tablet and tablet holder, along with BMW Individual Silver Bronze accents, Fineline open-pored fine-wood trim and Silver Bronze inlays.

The First Edition also features a ‘FIRST EDITION’ laser engraving on the dashboard trim. Its exterior combines Carbon Black Metallic paint with Titanium Bronze exterior accents.

With bookings now open across BMW’s authorised dealer network, the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase marks an important addition to the company’s locally produced electric vehicle portfolio in India.
