Bajaj has launched the all-new Pulsar 150 at a starting price of ₹1.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new-generation motorcycle gets major updates to its engine, frame, gearbox and suspension, while retaining the familiar Pulsar silhouette. It is available in three variants: SD Single Seat, TD Single Seat and TD Split Seat.

NEW PULSAR 150: ENGINE AND GEARBOX UPDATES

The 149.5cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine continues to produce 14hp, but peak power is now delivered at 8,000rpm, 500rpm earlier than before. Peak torque has increased to 14.1Nm from 13.2Nm, with the maximum arriving at 6,500rpm.

Bajaj has also introduced a new gearbox focused on improving low-speed tractability. The motorcycle gets a new single-cradle frame instead of the previous dual-cradle setup, with the engine acting as a stressed member. Bajaj says this setup improves the motorcycle’s ride and stability.

NEW MONOSHOCK AND BRAKING HARDWARE

The new Pulsar 150 replaces the previous twin-shock rear suspension with a monoshock setup. At the front, it continues with a 33mm right-side-up telescopic fork offering 125mm of travel, while the rear suspension provides 110mm of travel.

Braking hardware includes a 260mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, while the base variant gets a 130mm rear drum. Single-channel ABS is standard across all three variants. The motorcycle rides on tubeless tyres measuring 80/100-17 at the front and 100/90-17 at the rear.

NEW FEATURES AND CONNECTIVITY

The all-new Pulsar 150 gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster, while the TD Single Seat and TD Split Seat variants receive a 5-inch TFT display. The system supports call and SMS alerts and allows riders to store vehicle documents for quick access.

The top-spec TD Split Seat variant also gets Wi-Fi connectivity with Google Maps mirroring. The feature was first introduced on the Pulsar N160 SS. The motorcycle also gets three ride modes and a crawl mode, while a USB Type-C charging port is now standard across all variants.

ISG AND UPDATED DESIGN

The two higher variants are equipped with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). It enables a stop-start function that can switch the engine off during traffic stops to help conserve fuel and also allows silent engine starts.

The lighting setup has also received minor changes, with the top two variants getting all-LED lighting as standard. The fairing has been redesigned to give the motorcycle a more aggressive appearance, while the familiar Pulsar silhouette has been retained.

PRICE AND VARIANTS

The base SD Single Seat variant of the new Bajaj Pulsar 150 is priced at ₹1.15 lakh, while the fully loaded TD Split Seat variant costs ₹1.23 lakh. The TD Single Seat sits between the two variants in the lineup. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

A MORE MODERN PULSAR 150

With substantial changes to its powertrain, chassis, suspension and equipment, the new Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a major update over its predecessor. The addition of a monoshock, TFT display, ISG, crawl mode and smartphone-oriented features gives the long-running motorcycle a more modern package while preserving its familiar Pulsar identity.
