Suzuki has revealed the e Sky, its first-ever electric vehicle designed to comply with Japan’s ultra-compact kei car regulations. The new EV is scheduled to launch in Japan in autumn 2026, between September and November, and takes design inspiration from the Vision e Sky concept showcased at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.

SUZUKI E SKY: BOXy DESIGN AND COMPACT DIMENSIONS

The Suzuki e Sky features a boxy and upright design aimed at maximising cabin space while maintaining a compact footprint. At the front, it gets square LED headlights with segmented C-shaped LED daytime running lamps. The full-width LED light bar seen on the concept has been replaced by black textured trim incorporating a camera module.

The side profile retains the upright styling with flared wheel arches and black alloy wheels. At the rear, the e Sky gets wraparound LED tail-lights, halogen turn indicators and reverse lights, along with a rear wiper, washer and roof-mounted spoiler. The production model’s exact dimensions have not yet been revealed.

DIGITAL CABIN WITH CONNECTED FEATURES

Inside, the Suzuki e Sky gets a large central touchscreen alongside a digital driver’s display. The three-spoke steering wheel features physical buttons, while the drive selector is mounted on the dashboard to free up additional space in the cabin.

The cabin also features fabric upholstery and fixed headrests. Features spotted on the car include automatic climate control, push-button start/stop and vehicle-to-load (V2L) support. Suzuki is expected to reveal the complete equipment list closer to the launch.

SUZUKI E SKY EXPECTED RANGE AND POWERTRAIN

Suzuki has not yet revealed the final technical specifications of the e Sky. Reports suggest the electric kei car could use a front-mounted electric motor producing around 64hp, in line with Japan’s kei car power regulations.

The Vision e Sky concept had a claimed range of more than 270km, while reports suggest the production e Sky could offer a range of around 310km. These figures remain unconfirmed until Suzuki releases the official specifications.

WILL THE SUZUKI E SKY COME TO INDIA?

Suzuki is currently scheduled to launch the e Sky in Japan in autumn 2026, but there is no confirmation of an India launch. However, Maruti Suzuki is developing an affordable entry-level electric hatchback, codenamed Y2V, and the e Sky could fit the description of such a model.

If introduced in India, the Suzuki e Sky could compete with compact electric cars such as the MG Comet EV. However, its India-spec positioning, specifications and launch timeline have not been confirmed.

With its digital cabin, potential 310km range and compact dimensions, the e Sky is set to become an important addition to Suzuki’s growing electric vehicle portfolio when it launches in Japan later this year.
