MG has launched the Hector Tomahawk PHEV in India at an introductory price of Rs 25.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Claimed to be India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV, the new seven-seater offers over 115km of electric-only range and a claimed combined range of more than 1,100km.

MG HECTOR TOMAHAWK PHEV PRICE AND VARIANTS

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is available in two seven-seater variants. The Exclusive 7S is priced at Rs 25.70 lakh, while the Essence 7S costs Rs 27.80 lakh, both ex-showroom.

MG is also offering the Hector Tomahawk PHEV under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. Prices start at Rs 21.79 lakh for the Exclusive variant, with an additional battery rental charge of Rs 3.20 per kilometre. Bookings have commenced, while deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026.

MG HECTOR TOMAHAWK PHEV POWERTRAIN AND RANGE

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with a 20.5kWh battery and a permanent magnet electric motor. The petrol engine produces 102hp and 125Nm, while the electric motor develops 201hp and 237Nm. The combined system output is rated at 198hp and 230Nm.

The plug-in hybrid SUV gets four drive modes: pure EV, series hybrid, parallel hybrid and engine direct drive. The system automatically switches between these modes depending on factors such as vehicle speed, throttle input, battery state of charge and road conditions.

MG claims an electric-only range of more than 115km, while the combined range with a full tank and fully charged battery is claimed to exceed 1,100km. A 3.3kW AC charger takes 7.5 hours to charge the battery from 10 to 100 percent, while a 25kW DC charger can charge it from 30 to 80 percent in 35 minutes.

MG HECTOR TOMAHAWK PHEV DESIGN AND DIMENSIONS

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV gets a distinctive front-end design with a large functional grille, chrome detailing, gloss-black elements and a silver trim piece on the bumper. The SUV also features rectangular headlamps and a more conventional fascia compared with the all-electric version.

At the side, the SUV gets prominent body cladding around the wheel arches and door sills, along with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear features wraparound rectangular tail-lamps and a two-tone bumper.

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height, with a 2,810mm wheelbase. It is longer than both the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.

MG HECTOR TOMAHAWK PHEV INTERIOR AND FEATURES

Inside, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV gets a minimalist dashboard dominated by a large 15.6-inch touchscreen. It is paired with an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display and a two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel. The floating centre console provides storage spaces, cup holders and a wireless charging pad.

Feature highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, gesture controls, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a powered tailgate, 256-colour ambient lighting and a 10-speaker Infinity sound system.

Safety equipment includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera with transparent-bonnet and wheel-view functions, and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
