Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the all-new iPhone Duo, combining a 7.6-inch folding display, A20 Pro performance, a dual-battery system and a redesigned iOS 27 experience in a pocketable titanium design.

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, marking the company’s first entry into the foldable smartphone segment. Positioned as a completely new interpretation of the iPhone, the device combines Apple’s familiar software ecosystem with a foldable form factor designed for multitasking, entertainment, photography and hands-free use. 

FIRST FOLDABLE iPHONE FROM APPLE

The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR folding display when opened, making it the largest display ever offered on an iPhone. Apple says the inner display is 50% larger than the display on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The folding screen uses a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare, while both displays support ProMotion with adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz. 

When folded, the smartphone uses a 5.4-inch outer display, giving users access to everyday functions without opening the device. Apple has designed the two displays with the same aspect ratio to provide a consistent viewing experience when moving between them. 

The phone measures just 5.2mm thick when open and weighs 254 grams. Its construction combines a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, Ceramic Shield protection and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. 

iOS 27 DESIGNED FOR A FOLDABLE EXPERIENCE

Apple has reworked iOS 27 specifically around the iPhone Duo’s flexible form factor. Users can position the device in landscape or portrait orientations, use two apps side by side with Split View, watch content at adjustable angles and use the phone as a stand for FaceTime calls or videos.

StandBy can also transform the device into a clock, photo frame or information display, even when it is not connected to a charger. 

A20 Pro Chip and Dual-Battery Architecture

Powering the iPhone Duo is Apple’s A20 Pro chip, featuring a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the chip delivers up to 20% faster CPU performance and up to 50% greater memory bandwidth compared with the A19 Pro. A custom vapour-chamber thermal system is designed to maintain performance during demanding workloads and gaming. 

The phone also introduces an iPhone-first dual-battery architecture. Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and up to 44 hours using the outer display. Fast wired charging can take the battery to 50% in around 20 minutes. 

48MP Dual Fusion Camera System

Photography is handled by a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, consisting of a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. The system supports super-high-resolution 24MP and 48MP photos and optical-quality 2x zoom. 

Apple has also developed foldable-specific camera features including Smart Take, Duo Preview, Kid Cue and Duo FaceTime, allowing the phone’s multiple displays and folding design to become part of the photography and video-calling experience.

The device additionally features a 12MP Center Stage front camera and an under-display FaceTime camera. 

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI

The iPhone Duo is built around Apple’s latest AI capabilities, including Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. The A20 Pro’s Neural Engine is designed to handle on-device AI workloads, while Siri AI provides a more conversational and personalised assistant experience. 

The smartphone is also eSIM-only worldwide, while Apple confirms support for Apple Pencil (USB-C), with availability coming later this year. 

iPHONE DUO INDIA PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

In India, the iPhone Duo starts at ₹2,99,900 for the 256GB variant. The 512GB model is priced at ₹3,24,900, while the 1TB version costs ₹3,74,900. The range-topping 2TB variant is priced at ₹4,49,900. 

The iPhone Duo will be available in Night Sky and Star White. Pre-orders in India begin at 5:30 PM IST on October 16, 2026, with availability starting October 23, 2026 through Apple’s online store and selected partner retailers. 

With its first foldable design, massive inner display, A20 Pro chip and software built around multiple orientations, the iPhone Duo represents one of the biggest design changes to Apple’s smartphone lineup in years.
