Ultraviolette has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing footprint with the upcoming BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The new facility is designed to support the company’s next phase of growth, with production capacity planned to reach 2,50,000 vehicles annually, while the infrastructure can eventually scale up to 5,00,000 units per year. 

Located at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Shoolagiri, the BIGGA Factory will manufacture Ultraviolette’s highly anticipated Tesseract electric scooter and provide production capacity for the brand’s upcoming portfolio. The company says its future products will span multiple segments, including Sports, Crossover, Cruiser, Street motorcycles and scooters.

The expansion is also expected to generate approximately 2,000 job opportunities during the initial phase, with employment expected to increase as operations scale over the next five years. The new facility will operate alongside Ultraviolette’s existing manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. 

Industry 4.0 Manufacturing and Advanced Automation

Ultraviolette is positioning the BIGGA Factory as a future-ready manufacturing ecosystem built around Industry 4.0 principles. The facility will incorporate a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for real-time production track-and-trace, alongside digital lean manufacturing and digital quality systems.

Advanced automation will also play a key role, with collaborative robots planned for sorting, welding and assembly. Automated assembly fool-proofing and vision-based inspection systems are expected to improve precision, consistency and manufacturing efficiency. 

A dedicated test track will allow vehicles to undergo rigorous evaluation before dispatch, with the company focusing on maintaining design, performance and quality standards throughout the production process. 

Ultraviolette’s Global EV Ambitions

The BIGGA Factory represents a significant step in Ultraviolette’s transition from a performance-focused electric mobility manufacturer to a technology-led EV company operating at greater scale. The facility is intended to strengthen the company’s ability to develop and manufacture products in India for both domestic and international markets.

Ultraviolette currently exports to 19 countries across Europe, according to the company’s press release, reinforcing its stated ambition to establish Indian EV technology and manufacturing capabilities on the global stage.
