Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, an ultra-exclusive performance coupe developed for driving enthusiasts seeking maximum performance, exclusivity and dynamic capability. Limited to just 30 units worldwide, the special model has already been sold out, making it one of the most exclusive additions to the Mercedes-AMG portfolio.

At the heart of the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing an impressive 646 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, delivering a more traditional rear-wheel-drive performance character.

The high-performance coupe can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 3.9 seconds and achieves a claimed top speed of 310kph. Despite its substantial performance, the CLE 646 weighs 1,895kg, making it around 170kg lighter than the CLE 53.

Mercedes-AMG has extensively modified the car’s exterior to improve its dynamic capabilities. The body is 60mm wider, while extensive use of carbon-fibre body panels helps reduce weight. The coupe also receives adjustable coilover suspension, allowing its chassis setup to be tailored for demanding driving conditions.

Stopping power comes from carbon-ceramic brakes, while lightweight 20-inch forged wheels further enhance the car’s performance credentials. An adjustable rear wing adds aerodynamic support at higher speeds while reinforcing the model’s motorsport-inspired character.

Inside, the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung takes a distinctly driver-focused approach. The cabin features racing bucket seats, a roll bar and no rear seats, highlighting its focus on performance rather than everyday practicality.

The CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung also becomes the second model in Mercedes-Benz’s Mythos series, following the brand’s strategy of creating highly exclusive, limited-production vehicles for collectors and performance enthusiasts.

With its hand-crafted character, extreme performance and limited production run, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung represents a particularly rare interpretation of the modern AMG performance coupe.
