Mercedes-Benz is preparing to bring its updated flagship luxury sedan to India, with the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class scheduled to launch on October 5. The facelift introduces a sharper design, upgraded cabin technology, additional personalisation choices and revised powertrain options. 

More distinctive Maybach styling

The new Maybach S-Class retains its imposing proportions while gaining several styling changes. The signature grille is now around 20 percent larger and features illuminated detailing, including the Mercedes star and Maybach lettering. New headlamps with three-pointed-star daytime running lights further differentiate the luxury sedan.

The model continues to be 180mm longer than the standard long-wheelbase S-Class, creating additional visual presence and rear-seat space. New 20- and 21-inch forged alloy wheels are also available, while illuminated Maybach branding adds further detailing. Buyers will also have access to an expanded range of Manufaktur exterior colours and two-tone paint combinations. 

Luxury-focused cabin with new technology

Inside, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets the updated S-Class-style Superscreen layout, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.4-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch passenger display.

The cabin also receives expanded personalisation options, including additional leather choices and, for the first time in a Maybach, a leather-free vegan upholstery option. Rear passengers remain the priority, with seats offering heating, ventilation, massage functions and up to 43 degrees of recline. Two smartphone-style controllers replace the previous tablet-based system. 

Powerful V8 and possible hybrid option

Internationally, the Maybach S-Class is available with several powertrain configurations. The S 580 uses a revised 4.0-litre V8 producing 537 bhp and 750Nm, while the S 580e plug-in hybrid combines a 3.0-litre inline-six engine with an electric motor for a combined 585 bhp. India-specific powertrain details are yet to be confirmed. 

The S 680 is expected to be particularly significant, with a 612 bhp and 850Nm version of the 4.0-litre V8 likely for India.

The existing Maybach S 580 is priced at ₹2.87 crore (ex-showroom), and the updated model is expected to command a premium when it arrives.
