Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), the manufacturer of BharatBenz trucks and buses, has inaugurated a new 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) facility in Leh-Ladakh, in collaboration with PPS Trucking. Located at approximately 11,550 feet above sea level, the facility is described by DICV as India’s first and only commercial vehicle repair facility operating at such a high altitude. 

Situated in Phey Village along NH-1, on the Leh–Srinagar–Uri Highway, the new BharatBenz workshop spans 20,000 sq. ft. and is designed to support commercial vehicles operating across some of Ladakh’s most challenging routes. Its service catchment includes Kargil, Drass and the Leh-China border regions, where trucks are deployed for stone-crushing operations, road construction and transportation of communication tower infrastructure. 

BharatBenz Workshop Targets Faster Service and Reduced Downtime

Before the facility opened, commercial vehicle operators in the region often had to travel long distances for authorised service and genuine spare parts. According to DICV, this contributed to longer vehicle downtime and increased operating costs. The new workshop is intended to shorten service turnaround times while improving access to trained technicians and critical spare parts. 

The facility features three fully equipped service bays, advanced diagnostic systems, modern workshop tools and genuine BharatBenz spare parts. It can service more than 1,400 vehicles annually and also provides 24×7 roadside assistance for on-road breakdowns. 

The workshop will be particularly relevant to heavy-duty operations in Ladakh, where vehicles encounter steep gradients, extreme weather and difficult terrain. BharatBenz tippers are already used extensively in Leh’s stone-crushing industry and other infrastructure-related activities. 

As part of the strengthened after-sales network, the facility will have more than 20 trained technicians, dedicated driver rest areas and customer amenities, along with a robust regional spare-parts inventory aimed at reducing turnaround times. 

The inauguration expands BharatBenz’s service infrastructure in a strategically important and geographically challenging commercial vehicle corridor, supporting operators involved in construction, infrastructure and border-region connectivity.
