Ultraviolette has announced that its upcoming Shockwave electric motorcycle will be built on the company’s newly developed 100V architecture, with the motorcycle now confirmed to launch in Q1 2027. The new electrical architecture is expected to bring potential improvements in power delivery, thermal efficiency and charging performance to Ultraviolette’s lightweight motorcycle platform. 

Ultraviolette Shockwave to Adopt New 100V Architecture

The upcoming Ultraviolette Shockwave, also referred to as the FUNDURO, was conceived as a lightweight electric motorcycle focused on the enjoyment and excitement of riding. According to the company, the motorcycle draws inspiration from the raw and spirited character associated with classic two-stroke motorcycles while bringing that philosophy into an electric motorcycle format. 

The adoption of the new 100V architecture is one of the key developments ahead of the motorcycle’s launch. Ultraviolette says the architecture has the potential to provide stronger power delivery, improved thermal efficiency and faster charging, although the company has not yet disclosed the final technical specifications of the Shockwave. 

The 100V architecture is also part of the technology development taking place across Ultraviolette’s electric motorcycle portfolio. The company had previously announced that its Tesseract would adopt the same architecture. Ultraviolette says that although the Shockwave and Tesseract are designed for different riding experiences, the development reflects its continued investment in electric vehicle technology.

Shockwave Production Preparation Underway

Ultraviolette has already started preparations for production of the Shockwave. The company confirmed that it has begun setting up a dedicated production line for the motorcycle within its existing manufacturing facility.

The company has also confirmed that the Shockwave will be offered in both single-seat and dual-seat configurations, giving buyers two seating options when the motorcycle reaches the market. Further details regarding the motorcycle’s specifications, features, pricing and launch plans have not yet been announced.

Ultraviolette Co-founder and CEO Narayan Subramaniam said that the Shockwave was envisioned from the beginning as a motorcycle designed to bring back the pure enjoyment of riding. He added that bringing the company’s 100V architecture to the Shockwave is an important step toward that objective.

According to Subramaniam, the Shockwave and Tesseract have been developed in parallel over the past year, with work already underway to establish the Shockwave production line at Ultraviolette’s existing facility. 

Final Specifications to Be Announced Closer to Launch

While Ultraviolette has confirmed the architecture, seating configurations and launch timeline, the company has not yet revealed the complete specifications of the Shockwave.

The final details are expected to be announced closer to its Q1 2027 introduction. This means details such as battery capacity, motor output, range, charging time, top speed and pricing remain undisclosed in the current announcement.

The 100V platform could become an important part of Ultraviolette’s approach to improving the performance and charging capabilities of its electric motorcycles. However, the actual performance of the Shockwave will only be clear once the company releases its final specifications.

Ultraviolette Expands Its Electric Motorcycle Technology

Ultraviolette Automotive describes itself as a developer of future-ready electric vehicle platforms and battery technology, with an aviation-inspired approach to its products. The company was founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan. 

The company says it is backed by investors including Lingotto, TDK Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Yali Capital, Zoho Corporation, TVS Motors and Speciale Invest. Ultraviolette also states that it became the first Indian electric manufacturer to secure European certification for its motorcycles.

According to the press release, Ultraviolette has expanded its international presence and exports to 20 countries across Europe, including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland and Hungary.

With production preparations now underway, the Ultraviolette Shockwave is scheduled to launch in Q1 2027. More information about its specifications and pricing is expected to be released closer to the launch.
