Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles achieves its highest-ever quarterly sales in Q2 FY27, driven by 90% growth in EV sales, strong SUV demand and rising adoption of greener powertrains.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has reported its highest-ever quarterly sales of 201,723 units in Q2 FY27, registering a 40% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to 144,397 units sold in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The sales figures include domestic and international markets, highlighting sustained demand across the company’s passenger vehicle portfolio.

According to the company’s press release dated October 1, 2026, domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 196,674 units in Q2 FY27, marking a 40% increase from 140,189 units in Q2 FY26. International business sales also grew by 20% to 5,049 units, compared to 4,208 units in the year-ago quarter.

Tata Motors EV Sales Grow 90% in Q2 FY27

Electric vehicles (EVs) remained a major growth driver for Tata Motors, with combined domestic and international EV sales reaching 47,150 units in Q2 FY27, up 90% from 24,855 units in Q2 FY26. The company reported that EVs accounted for 23% of its overall portfolio, compared to an industry penetration of around 8%.

September 2026 also witnessed strong momentum, with Tata Motors recording total passenger vehicle sales of 70,210 units, representing 15% growth over 60,907 units in September 2025. EV sales during the month stood at 15,384 units, a 67% increase year-on-year.

CNG and SUV Portfolio Drive Growth

Alongside electric vehicles, CNG-powered models contributed significantly to the company’s performance. CNG vehicles recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales and accounted for 28% of total volumes. Together, EVs and CNG vehicles contributed 51% of Tata Motors’ Q2 FY27 sales, reflecting growing customer adoption of alternative powertrains.

The Tata Punch emerged as India’s highest-selling SUV during the quarter, according to the company. Tata Motors also expanded its portfolio with the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and the all-new Tata Aeris, while introducing its new customer-facing identity, TATA.CARS.

Tata Motors Eyes Festive Season Demand

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said passenger vehicle demand maintained momentum following GST 2.0, despite the seasonally softer quarter. He noted that industry Vahan volumes grew around 24% year-on-year.

Looking ahead, Tata Motors remains optimistic about the festive season, supported by a strong order book and healthy customer traction. The company plans to scale up production to meet demand, sustain growth momentum and strengthen its market position.
