Kawasaki has introduced the 2027 Ninja 650 with significant updates to its suspension, braking hardware and instrument display, while retaining the familiar 649cc parallel-twin engine. The latest model is designed to offer improved front-end control and a more engaging riding experience without changing the motorcycle’s approachable character.
2027 Kawasaki Ninja 650: What’s New?
The most notable update to the 2027 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is the addition of a 37mm Showa Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) inverted front suspension, replacing the conventional telescopic fork on the previous model. According to Kawasaki, the upgraded suspension improves front-end rigidity, road-holding performance and rider confidence, while retaining the bike’s rider-friendly handling characteristics.

The braking system has also received an upgrade, with radial-mounted, opposed 4-piston front brake calipers replacing the earlier axial-mounted units. The motorcycle features dual 300mm semi-floating front discs, paired with a 220mm rear disc and a single-piston rear caliper. These changes are intended to provide improved braking control and a more planted feel during cornering.
Engine and Performance
The 2027 Ninja 650 continues to use Kawasaki’s 649cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, parallel-twin engine with DOHC and eight valves. The engine produces 68PS (approximately 67bhp) at 8,000rpm and 64Nm of torque at 6,700rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a wet multi-disc clutch.

The motorcycle retains its lightweight trellis frame, with a 785mm seat height, 15-litre fuel tank and a kerb weight of 194kg, according to Kawasaki’s European specifications.
Features and Technology
The updated Ninja 650 receives a revised 4.3-inch full-colour TFT instrument display with a redesigned layout. Smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki’s RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE supports vehicle information, riding logs and navigation functions, with availability varying by market. The motorcycle also features Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), offering two selectable modes.

An upright riding position, compact chassis and accessible seat height continue to support everyday usability alongside sport-oriented riding. Kawasaki Quick Shifter is also available as an accessory for clutchless upshifts.
The 2027 Kawasaki Ninja 650 brings focused mechanical and technology updates while retaining its established engine and overall platform. Its availability and pricing for India have not been confirmed on the linked European product page.
