Honda has opened bookings for its new XR300L and XR300 Rally in India, bringing the Japanese manufacturer’s dual-sport motorcycles into a segment that is rapidly gaining popularity. Both motorcycles are locally manufactured and will be sold through Honda BigWing dealerships. The XR300L is priced at ₹1.83 lakh, while the more touring-focused XR300 Rally costs ₹2.08 lakh, both ex-showroom.
The two motorcycles share their core mechanical package, including a 293.5cc single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled engine related to the unit used in the Honda CB300F. International-market versions produce around 24.3 bhp and 26.5Nm, although Honda is yet to publish the complete India-specific specification sheet. The Indian versions also feature revised exhaust routing compared with the South American XR300L.
Honda XR300L: Dual-Sport Focus
The XR300L is positioned as the more straightforward dual-sport motorcycle, designed to combine everyday usability with trail and off-road capability. It uses telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock, while its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels are suited to mixed-terrain riding.

The motorcycle also gets equipment such as switchable dual-channel ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), making it better equipped for varied riding conditions.
Honda XR300 Rally: More Touring Equipment
Priced ₹25,000 higher than the XR300L, the XR300 Rally adds equipment aimed at riders covering longer distances. It gets a larger fuel tank, taller windscreen, knuckle guards, distinctive rally-inspired bodywork and a 5-inch TFT display. It also features more comprehensive switchgear, while Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity adds another layer of functionality.

With the XR300L starting at ₹1.83 lakh, Honda has positioned it below the Kawasaki KLX230, which costs ₹2.19 lakh, while the XR300 Rally also remains significantly more affordable than the Kawasaki. The new Honda duo will also face competition from the Hero Xpulse 210.
The XR300L and XR300 Rally give Honda a stronger presence in India’s growing lightweight dual-sport and adventure motorcycle space, offering buyers two distinct interpretations of the same platform.
