Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its 350cc portfolio in India with the launch of the new Bonneville T40, bringing the iconic Bonneville design language to a smaller-capacity motorcycle. Priced at ₹2.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the T40 combines classic styling with modern electronics and a dedicated chassis setup.

The Bonneville T40 uses Triumph’s 350cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, but it receives a different state of tune compared with the company’s other 350cc motorcycles. It produces 29 bhp at 7,000rpm and 31.2Nm at 5,500rpm, with the engine configured to deliver stronger low- and mid-range performance. A six-speed gearbox is standard, with taller overall gearing for the Bonneville application.

Classic Bonneville Design

The T40 gets a dedicated frame arrangement designed around its traditional roadster character. The rear section features a tubular steel swingarm and twin rear shock absorbers, while the subframe is welded to the main frame.

Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm telescopic front fork and twin rear shocks, both offering 130mm of travel. Braking hardware includes a 310mm front disc and a 255mm rear disc, supported by lean-sensitive ABS.

The motorcycle rides on wire-spoke wheels with tubed MRF tyres, measuring 100/90-18 at the front and 150/70-R18 at the rear. A centre stand is offered as standard.

Modern Technology

Despite its retro appearance, the Bonneville T40 features a substantial electronics package. It gets a 4-inch colour TFT display, five riding modes, traction control, ABS and cruise control. The display also offers a Heritage mode that gives the interface a more traditional appearance.

Smartphone connectivity through Triumph’s Navigation app allows navigation information to be displayed on the TFT.

The T40 weighs 195kg and gets a 14.5-litre fuel tank. Its 790mm seat height can be reduced to 770mm with the optional low seat, while ground clearance stands at 165mm.

Price and Rivals

At ₹2.80 lakh, the Triumph Bonneville T40 sits above motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350C and Jawa 350. Triumph has also introduced the India-specific Bonneville T4 at ₹2.55 lakh, which offers fewer electronic features.

Bookings for the Bonneville T40 are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.
